According to Bild, while concerns about Kompany persist, Bayern Munich quietly completed a major deal this week. The Bundesliga champions secured €250 million from Viessmann in exchange for a 5% stake in Bayern Munich AG.

Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer (72) explained the deal to Bild: "Our task is to achieve excellent results for Bayern Munich to ensure our international competitiveness and, above all, to guarantee Bayern Munich's long-term independence. We were not in distress at the time, nor were we forced to sell, which was a significant advantage."

The signing ceremony took place on Thursday in the Cup and Conference Room on the second floor of Bayern's headquarters at Säbener Straße, where senior management offices are located. Those present included President Herbert Hainer, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, Vice President Professor Dr. Dieter Meyer, Max Viessmann, and lawyers representing both sides.

Herbert Hainer continued: "Viessmann is an established family business we have known for many years. It shares our values and is an excellent fit for us. Particularly Max Viessmann, who will join the Bayern Munich supervisory board."

Why would a company built on heating technology invest such a substantial sum in Bayern Munich? CEO Max Viessmann explained: "Our family business operates across diverse sectors, with a strong industrial core and minority equity investments. We are committing as a long-term partner.

The importance of sports continues to grow, but it must align strategically and financially with our other businesses. Bayern Munich's combination of sporting success, financial discipline, and institutional stability convinced us."

For Bayern Munich, this deal strengthens its domestic position and enables it to keep pace internationally with investor-backed clubs. The club's cash reserves will be substantially increased.

Bayern Munich will deploy this capital strategically to support cash flow, though ongoing projects such as the Unterhaching stadium and new performance center will continue to be funded from existing operational cash flow rather than from these €250 million.
