Bournemouth beat Leicester City 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, with Antoine Semenyo at the double on the final day of the Premier League season.

Having lost their last two games, Bournemouth rounded out another positive campaign on a winning note thanks to one of their stars of 2024-25.

Already-relegated Leicester struggled to create any chances of note, with their best opening coming inside the opening ten minutes – an Oliver Skipp volley that flew over the bar.

But Semenyo lit up the match in the final 16 minutes of normal time, breaking the deadlock in the 74th before hammering in his second in the 88th, with the latter goal teed up by Dean Huijsen on his final game before he heads to Real Madrid.

Bournemouth finish in ninth on a club-record 56 points, while Leicester end their campaign in 18th, on 25.

Leicester’s best opening came early on when Skipp found space in the penalty area, however, the midfielder could not keep his volley down at Kepa Arrizabalaga's goal.

Both Evanilson and Justin Kluivert dragged wide of the post in the opening 15 minutes, while David Brooks had a volley saved after an excellent cross from Marcus Tavernier.

Illia Zabarnyi's cushioned header from Tyler Adams' looping cross brought the opener for Semenyo, whose scuffed shot found a way past Jakub Stolarczyk.

Bournemouth’s second strike followed 14 minutes later when Boubakary Soumare lost possession to Huijsen, before the departing defender teed up Semenyo to fire past Stolarczyk and seal a triumphant end to another fine campaign.

Data Debrief: Leicester low again as Bournemouth soar

Leicester attempted just three efforts in this game and failed to have a shot on target for the third time in a Premier League game this season, with no team doing so more often in the competition.

That ensured they succumbed to a 25th top-flight defeat this campaign, their most in a single league season (also 25 in 1994-95 and 1977-78).

On the contrary, Semenyo's double made it 58 Premier League goals for Bournemouth this season, their most in a single campaign, while they hit 200+ shots on target for the first time in the competition (202).

Semenyo also scored his 10th and 11th Premier League goals of the season, reaching double figures in a league season for the first time.

It was one-way traffic on the south coast, too, with Bournemouth accumulating 1.79 expected goals to Leicester's 0.27.
