AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement with Lille OSC for Bafodé Diakité, according to a report from Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.
The exact amount that Bournemouth have agreed to pay for the centre-back has not yet been disclosed, but it is estimated to be €40m, which would match the price tag that Lille had been reportedly looking for. Yesterday. Marc Mechenoua revealed that Bournemouth had put in a new bid.
Bournemouth had been in the market for a new centre-back, particularly after finally reaching an accord with Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of Illia Zabarnyi (22), in a deal valued to be around €63m.
Diakité was a crucial player for Lille last season, appearing in all but three matches and making 48 appearances in all competitions, and helping the squad reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League (where they were eliminated by Borussia Dortmund in the Last 16).
