Brazil picked up their first win of the 2026 World Cup after cruising to a 3-0 victory over Haiti at Philadelphia Stadium.
Match Report
Matheus Cunha, who replaced Igor Thiago in the starting lineup, netted a brace for the Selecao, while Vinicius Junior scored and assisted as Carlo Ancelotti's side moved to the top of Group C.
After Raphinha saw an early goal chalked off for offside, Cunha opened the scoring in the 23rd minute as he deflected an attempted clearance from Hannes Delcroix into the back of the net.
The Manchester United forward doubled his tally after the half-hour mark, lashing into the top-left corner after being played through on goal by Vinicius, who made it 3-0 in first-half stoppage time.
Lucas Paqueta lifted the ball over the top of the Haiti defence, allowing Vinicius to compose himself before finishing through the legs of Johny Placide.
Haiti provided some threat in the second half and almost pulled a goal back in the 63rd minute when Ricardo Ade beat Marquinhos in the air from a corner, but Alisson was on hand to make a reflex save.
Fan favourite Endrick came off the bench to make his World Cup debut and thought he added a fourth, but was denied by the offside flag as his run to get on the end of Bruno Guimaraes' pass was made too soon.
Samba stars find their rhythm again
There was plenty of pressure on Brazil after their draw against Morocco last week, but the Selecao answered as they usually do on the big stage, scoring goals and conducting team celebrations.
Vinicius has been involved in three goals (two goals, one assist) across his first two matches at the 2026 World Cup, becoming only the third Brazilian to achieve this feat in the 21st century, after Elano in 2010 and Rivaldo in 2002.
Cunha, meanwhile, became the fifth player to score a brace for Brazil in a World Cup match during the 21st century, joining Ronaldo (three), Neymar (two), Luis Fabiano, and Richarlison.
Brazil's defence, which also came under scrutiny against Morocco, did their job; they did not concede a single shot in the first half against Haiti, the first time they have achieved this in a World Cup match since facing Scotland in 1990.
Overall, it was a deserved win for Ancelotti's side, who produced 1.5 expected goals (xG) from eight shots, while Haiti accumulated just 0.32 from their eight attempts.
The only concern for Brazil will be the injury to Raphinha, as the Barcelona winger was substituted off in the 40th minute with a suspected hamstring issue.

Ancelotti is a top coach, but choosing Igor Thiago over Joao Pedro was a mistake and he tried to justify his mistake by starting the former in the first game, which ended in failure. Cunha's display was far better and Vini finally had a forward to combine with.
