The Spanish midfielder's standing under Arteta has declined. He has not started a single Premier League game this season, making only six substitute appearances for a total of 100 minutes.

According to British outlet TEAMtalk, Martín Zubimendi is preparing to leave Arsenal in January to get his career back on track, and several top European clubs are now aware of his situation.

The Spain international has endured a difficult period in North London after joining with high expectations. Sources indicate that the 27-year-old is prepared to consider leaving when the winter transfer window opens, and seven of Europe's biggest clubs are already aware of the situation.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have all shown interest in bringing Zubimendi back to Spain, while German clubs are also monitoring the situation closely.

Sources indicate that Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have both been informed that the midfielder is available and that he may seek a move in January.

There is also movement in the Premier League. Chelsea have been informed of the situation, and Liverpool, who have long admired him, have also been notified. However, the Reds are currently considered unlikely to make a move, as their previous interest dates back to the former management.

Arsenal beat competition from several clubs to sign Zubimendi for £60 million in 2025. He was initially seen as a starter and was expected to play a central role in Arteta's midfield plans.

Over the past 12 months, however, his standing has changed considerably. Zubimendi's position has gradually declined, and despite his reputation and high transfer fee, he has yet to start a Premier League match this season.

The arrival of Guimaraes this summer has further intensified competition in midfield, while Lewis-Skelly being promoted ahead of him last season already showed how much his position in the team had changed.

TEAMtalk understands that Arsenal are aware of Zubimendi's intentions and know he might consider a move in January. The club is therefore preparing for interest in a player who was signed only recently.

Recent reports also suggest that Gunners manager Arteta will reluctantly approve his departure.

It is believed that Arsenal might consider a loan deal, but the structure of any potential transaction would require further assessment.

This matters because the initial investment was substantial, and many clubs are now aware of the situation. Any transfer must be in the best interests of both Arsenal and the player, especially given the £60 million the Gunners paid to bring him to the Emirates.

For Zubimendi, though, the priority is to get his career back on track. After 67 appearances for Arsenal, his time at the Emirates Stadium appears to be nearing its end.
