Manchester United and Brentford are now in talks for the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo, although the Red Devils' opening bid for the frontman is likely to be rejected
Manchester United have made an opening offer for Bryan Mbeumo worth £55million, though it is likely to be rejected by Brentford, who value their star forward in excess of £60m.
Mbeumo, 25 has emerged as a priority target for the Red Devils after they rubber-stamped a deal for Matheus Cunha earlier this week. There is, however, no agreement with Brentford yet over the versatile forward, who has indicated a preference to join United.
After approaching Brentford for club to club talks, United have tabled a proposal worth £55m including add-ons - but that bid is expected to be rebuked.
As outlined by The Athletic, the initial fee on offer is £45m with a further £10m in add-ons. That package is some way below what Brentford would expect for a player who broke the 20-goal barrier in the Premier League last season.
Mirror Football revealed on Wednesday that United were likely to be met with a firm response upon making their first bid for Mbeumo, who is valued at more than £60m by the Bees.
United are expected to negotiate with their domestic rivals on a price for the Cameroon star as they press ahead with plans to bolster Ruben Amorim's attacking options.
Despite the fact that Mbeumo is in the final year of his contract, Brentford hold a one year option to extend said deal and, as such, are under no pressure to sell.
They value Mbuemo at a similar level to the sum United paid for Cunha and, as Mirror Football revealed, are ready to play hardball over the former Troyes man, with the Bees prepared to hold out as long as it takes in order to get what they feel the player is worth.

While Mbeumo is keen on a move to Old Trafford, United's pursuit of a player who is capable of playing both out wide and through the middle could be complicated by interest in Yoane Wissa from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Brentford are not be willing to lose Mbeumo and Wissa this summer, meaning United may have to act fast in order to prevent missing out on a key target.
United are desperate for more firepower after ending the 2024-25 campaign with just 44 league goals to their name; the second lowest in the league outside of the three relegated teams.

The business is clear, negotiators for Man U, should leave the negotiating table, 55, million is a good buy for someone who has a year left on his contract. No other English side can pay such an amount of money. Brentford cannot renew his contract because his mind is already set on the move. So, they will lose him for nothing next year. By that time Man U can sign him in free transfer and then pay him huge wages.
They'll trigger the extension for further year

the most important thing is that he has premier league experience physically feet to play anywhere he can play 7 10 11 and 9 so united should go ahead and buy him the most important thing is an installment not cash

that is the problem with Man UTD, they always spoil players with money and always over price players and those players started to misbehave bcuz of the huge money they are paying them, there fans will be laying causes on the player instead of blaming there management. this guy shouldn't be more than €20-30m and his wage should be between 120-140. since he's earning 80m @ Brentford. but now they have started bidden with €55 and @ end they will end up paying 60-65 or maybe 70m.

Put more bonus since they are so confident he is worth that much and if he plays and scores more than what he had contributed then money activated. Can’t roll over like that
