After Manchester United qualified for the Champions League, Red Devils icon Bryan Robson offered the highest praise possible for interim boss Michael Carrick
Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has told the Reds to hand Michael Carrick the keys to Old Trafford immediately. The Red Devils overcame Liverpool 3-2 to wrap up their place in next season's Champions League.
It was a topsy turvy encounter, but United ran out winners in what was Carrick's tenth victory in 14 Premier League matches, since taking over on a temporary basis. United are one win away from finishing third, something which would have felt inconceivable when they were struggling under the sacked Ruben Amorim.
Nevertheless, it's unclear as to whether Carrick will be named as the club's next permanent boss. While Gary Neville admits he's unsure if his former team-mate has what it takes to be handed the job, Robson believes the ex-England international has more than earned the position.
Speaking to Bet St George, Robson said: "When Michael Carrick went into the interim role, you've still got to do the job and I think Michael's done it really well. He changed the formation, he put some of the players right in their favourite positions and he got a bit of confidence going within the lads. That's why they've done so well. I would appoint him as soon as he gets us into the Champions League.

"I think at this moment in time Michael deserves the opportunity. I think the lad deserves an even better chance to go on and build something at Man United.
"I'd be quite happy for Michael, a British lad, knows the club, to get his foot in the door and let's see if a British manager can really go on and be very successful at one of our top clubs.
"Because lately everybody's been going for foreign managers and nobody in the English league or who's played at the highest level seems to get a chance.
"But you never know how the hierarchy in clubs are really thinking. But for me, I'd be very disappointed if Michael didn't get the chance to run a club like Man United.”
Meanwhile, Neville admitted he wouldn't be completely against Carrick being handed a short-term contract, but also urged the club to appoint a world class manager. The ex-Reds captain said: "Some people say 'why don't you give him a year contract and give him a further year to stabilise things further?' I don't think I can argue with that.
"But, if a world-class manager became available that has won titles, Manchester United should probably pursue that route because the last five managers have not had that super club experience. Michael would be another who hasn't quite got that."

Gary Neville should be ashamed of himself because he thought Micheal Carick will not go far as interim Coach.

if Barcelona hadn't given Pep Guardiola who is Spanish (Catalan whatever), the chance to coach a club the size of Barcelona.... they wouldn't have had that success he brought or they would have but I'm sure it would be very much less than the success Pep brought to them... United can follow the same route, Micheal Carrick has the tactical nous and flexibility and the calm and playing career (won multiple titles with Man Utd) to wake up the sleep in Manchester United
Ole Gunnar Solsjaer was a similar case... the issue in his case was the marquee signing of Cristiano Ronaldo (not saying it was bad signing, but it was not the signing we needed to make due to psychological issues it carried), destabilized the dressing harmony and with Ronaldo in your team, that's always an almost insurmountable task to navigate that storm... other con factors from the owners played their roles taking United aback, during that time

Give him the job, he has shown everything that he is capable of being a good manager. We don't want try and errors again. CARRICK is the one we want.
we should also not forget that united being exited from all the possible cups they performed really well with fit squad....imagine next season with ucl and also fa cup carbao cup....maybe untd will again perform bad if they dont get some new players....all i say is dont overhype carrick yes he is good but we are not sure if he will show same results next season with ucl carbao and fa cup all with maintaining ucl spot again

Micheal Carrick has does his job very well not just as an interim manager but what the club deserves, now it the INEOS decision to make and they should make sure the coming transfer market they get busy to bring in more good players . Next season United should go head to head with any team that will try to win the league.
