England Under-21 goalkeeper James Trafford's £19m move from Manchester City to Burnley has been completed, with an official announcement expected shortly.

Trafford spent last season on loan at League One side Bolton Wanderers, keeping 22 clean sheets in 45 appearances for the club.

He will now get his chance in the Premier League with Vincent Kompany's Clarets after they won the Championship to secure their return to the top flight.

Trafford pressed home his credentials during England's recent triumph at the European Under-21 Championship.

The 20-year-old did not concede a goal in the tournament, keeping six successive clean sheets to help Lee Carsley's men to glory.

He saved a last-minute penalty in the final against Spain, as the Three Lions held on for a 1-0 win.

Trafford later claimed he knew he would save a penalty - telling friends he would earlier on the day of the final.

He has ambitions of playing for the England senior side and in the Champions League, and will get the chance to further enhance his reputation at Burnley next season.

Trafford is the latest player through the entrance door at Turf Moor, with the club having already signed Zeki Amdouni, Jordan Beyer and Dara O'Shea this summer.
