Cadena COPE: Argentina doesn't want to play away; Finalissima might be cancelled

  /  RichardYan

According to a report by Cadena COPE, the Finalissima between Spain and Argentina, originally scheduled for Friday, March 27, is facing a serious risk of cancellation, and may even be impossible to hold.

No agreement has been reached between the Spanish Football Association and the Argentine Football Association. No consensus has been reached between Rafael Louzán, president of the Spanish Football Federation, and Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association.

The Spanish Football Association had previously reached an agreement with Real Madrid to hold the match at the Bernabéu Stadium, based on logistical and security considerations in Madrid. Because the players are basically in Spain and Europe, everyone understands that if they don't play in Qatar, they should play in Europe. But Argentina does not want to play at the Bernabéu Stadium.

The Spanish Football Association's reflection is that Argentina does not want to play against Spain. Now that there is no funding from Qatar, Argentina does not want to play away, nor does it want to play in Spain. This is not only because of money, but also because of competitive considerations, because they believe that facing a title favourite like Spain at this time, if they lose the game, the consequences may be worse
