Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia could make their debuts for Chelsea on Sunday when they face West Ham at the London Stadium
Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to register his first win as Chelsea boss in the Premier League this weekend. West Ham welcome the Blues to the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon in what is set to be a blockbuster clash.
"They are beginning to change the shape but it's always going to be tough. All of the Premier League games will be difficult. They are a very good team doing a great job. Last season, they lifted a trophy, so they are very confident. For sure, it's going to be tough."
With Chelsea well aware of West Ham's ability to snatch three-points, they've been working hard in training to iron out any creases in their game plan. So, with that being said, football.london have taken a look at what stood out in Chelsea's final session at Cobham before they lock horns with the Hammers.
Argentinian connection
Pochettino and Enzo Fernandez were spotted having an in-depth conversation. Previously, the former Benfica star has often been starved of support in midfield but, following the arrivals of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, he now looks set to be finally freed from the shackles of the number six role.
Caicedo settles
Caicedo certainly seemed to enjoy his first training session with the Chelsea squad. The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined the Blues for a club-record fee this summer, was spotted smiling, laughing and focused on the drills.
He was also seen juggling the ball with former Brighton teammate Marc Cucurella. Despite having only recently signed, Blues fans are keen to see Pochettino throw Caicedo into the starting lineup.
Gusto audition
With Reece James nursing a hamstring injury, Malo Gusto is expected to fill in at right-back. Axel Disasi could also replace the England international following his impressive debut against Liverpool.
However, with Pochettino eager to throw his full-backs up the pitch, Gusto seems to be the favourite. It must also be said that the former Lyon defender was a prominent feature in the latest Chelsea training pictures.
Madueke at the heart of the action
On Friday, Pochettino confirmed that Madueke will be in the matchday squad against West Ham. The 21-year-old winger has been nursing an injury this summer and he's yet to play under the Blues boss.
"He is much better," said Pochettino. "He was involved in the Liverpool game, but we wanted to avoid because it was too early to take a risk with him, but now he was training really well during the week. He is going to be involved against West Ham and maybe with the possibility to play."
Madueke seemed to he heavily involved within Chelsea's latest training pictures, featuring in various drills. It seems unlikely that he'll start against the Hammers, but an appearance off the bench is certainly on the cards.
