Carragher: Villa will never be MU, Emery should consider managing the Red Devils

Jamie Carragher has faced strong criticism from Aston Villa fans after suggesting that Villa manager Unai Emery should take over at Manchester United. In response to the fans' discontent, the Liverpool legend said Villa fans should "shut up." Manchester United's interim manager Carrick had previously been facing difficulties in the job.

Carragher did not change his stance. He believes that if Emery were given the opportunity to manage a club of Manchester United's stature, he should seriously consider the move. The Liverpool legend even urged Villa fans to accept reality, saying their club "will never" reach Manchester United's level.

Carragher said on the "Stick to Football" show: "I think Emery is doing an incredible job year after year. The team has undergone so many changes, and new players need time to adapt, but he manages to do it every season."

"The reason I push back against Villa fans is that I can't believe a manager who has been so successful in the Europa League, who has won it four times, wouldn't want to compete for the Champions League."

"Aston Villa will never be Manchester United. I just think that when he managed Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, he didn't perform well, perhaps because there were some big egos in the dressing room."

"But he will definitely want another chance to manage a top club. Football has its own hierarchy, and whether you like it or not, that's the reality."

"Real Madrid can take Manchester United's best players, as they did with Cristiano Ronaldo back then."

"Clubs bigger than Aston Villa will also take their players or managers. So, Aston Villa fans, shut up. Aston Villa will never be Manchester United."
