Jamie Carragher was seen visibly frustrated during Liverpool's Champions League defeat to PSV at Anfield

Jamie Carragher has claimed Arne Slot should be sacked by Liverpool for continually selecting Ibrahima Konate as a starter. The French defender came under the spotlight after a string of errors in their 4-1 Champions League humiliation to PSV on Wednesday night.

Slot later substituted Konate in the second half, bringing on midfielder Federico Chiesa. On punditry duty with CBS Sports, Carragher was frustrated as he watched an analysed the game.

"It was handball, his hand went up. What is he doing?," he criticised Virgil van Dijk's handball that gifted PSV's opening goal.

"What the f*** is going on here? What the absolute... Oh f****** hell, Gakpo. Oh my God, Konate. Oh my God, Konate. Watch Konate, here. Oh my God. I've f****** had enough of them, honest to God, that Konate.

"I mean, that's a sackable offence for the manager, he keeps picking him. He should be sacked for that. Have they scored again, 4-1. What's this, 9 in 12?"

There has been plenty of debate about whether Slot remains the right man for the job after guiding the Reds to Premier League glory in his first season. The squad has underperformed with the attack struggling to gel despite new summer additions.

Both Konate and Van Dijk have faced criticism this campaign. Carragher, meanwhile, has gone as far as to claim that starting Konate is a 'sackable offence.'

In the summer, Liverpool set a new record for the most money spent in a transfer window by a Premier League club. Even after seeing a £35m move for Marc Guehi collapse in the final hours, the £446m, including add-ons, that was spent is a Premier League record
