Carragher reveals the key moment that stood out from Ruben Amorim's unveiling

Jamie Carragher pinpointed the one 'radical' thing Ruben Amorim has done that has left him brimming with excitement to watch Manchester United's weekend clash against Ipswich.

Amorim has been the talk of the Premier League since being unveiled as United's new manager in the wake of Erik ten Hag's sacking and will officially get his tenure underway at Portman Road on Sunday.

The Portuguese has lifted spirits around Old Trafford following the club's worst start to a Premier League campaign with them resuming after the international break 13th in the league and already 13 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.

United supporters believe Amorim will change the club's fortunes around after enjoying a 100 per cent winning start to the season with former club Sporting Lisbon including a 4-1 Champions League thrashing of Man City in his final home game in Portugal.

One aspect of his United reign that has been intensely scrutinised is Amorim's preference to use a 3-5-2 formation that if instilled in Manchester will make him the only manager in the Premier League's traditional 'big six' to do so.

Despite being United's youngest ever Premier League manager at just 39-years-old, Amorim has told supporters they will see his 'identity' from the beginning, something that Carragher has surprisingly hailed.

Speaking in his first interview with MUTV, Amorim said: 'Day one we will start with our identity.

'I think you will see an idea. You could like it or not, I don't know, but you will see an idea. You will see a positioning. You will see something that we want to reach. You will feel that. This, I can guarantee.'

Carragher has now given his verdict on Amorim's assessment of what's to come, and writing in The Telegraph, stated: 'These are the words you expect from elite coaches.

'I cannot wait to see United take on Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon because we are about to witness one of the most radical mid-season changes in formation and strategy ever imposed by one of the elite clubs.'

The clamour over Amorim's arrival will be quickly extinguished if United don't beat Ipswich where formed United assistant Kieran McKenna is attempting to guide the newly-promoted side to safety.

Ipswich have only won once this season - a shock 2-1 win over Spurs last time out - and Amorim is tasked with avoiding an upset that would be his first defeat of the season after a stunning start to the season with former club Sporting.

In stark contrast to his predecessor, Ten Hag, Amorim is boosted by having a nearly fully-fit squad to choose from for his opening match in the United dugout.

Teenage sensation Leny Yoro could make his long-awaited debut after successfully recovering from surgery, while other notable long-term absentees Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount have all taken part in recent training sessions.

Amorim will sit down with British media for the first time on Friday ahead of Sunday's game knowing a win will close the gap to the Premier League's top four.
