Carragher unleashes on Konate after Liverpool slip-up

Following Liverpool’s 2-0 loss to PSG in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, Jamie Carragher didn’t mince words.

The former Reds defender, now a pundit, strongly criticized Arne Slot’s tactical decisions, particularly his five-man defensive system.

In his view, this setup disrupted the team and unnecessarily exposed its defense. “The manager tried something, but he got it completely wrong tactically,” he analyzed on CBS Sports, arguing that Liverpool had, paradoxically, struggled more in this formation than with a traditional four-man defense.

But it was Ibrahima Konate’s performance in particular that came under fire from the former England international.

Carragher was very harsh, not hesitating to point out the French defender’s worrying inconsistency: “He’s been disastrous all season and was bad again tonight. He makes a mistake in every game.”

“Strong words, which contrast with his more lenient view of Virgil van Dijk, whom he considers unfairly criticized.”

Despite this harsh assessment, Carragher also made a point of highlighting the quality of the Parisian opponent, whom he compared to Pep Guardiola’s FC Barcelona.
