Carrasco provides Arsenal transfer update as he drops fresh hint

Yannick Carrasco has excited Arsenal supporters by confirming that talks are ongoing about a potential transfer to the club.

The 25-year-old was first linked with a loan move to Unai Emery's team in January but in the end were unable to tempt his Chinese club Dalian Yifang into letting him go.

Now, however, a deal for Carrasco appears more likely, and it certainly appears one that the player himself is keen on making happen.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper Sport , Carrasco said: "Negotiations are going well.

"I am aware that I am an important player for the team but I hope they let me leave.

"From a personal and family point of view, I would like to return to Europe."

Carrasco also claims he has what it takes to make an impression in the Premier League, and believes he is perfectly suited to the fast-paced nature of the division.

"The Premier League is more physical, but there are also a lot of spaces to run into," he added.

Carrasco moved to China from Atletico Madrid in 2018, and he has since made 25 appearances in the Chinese Super League, scoring seven goals.

The winger has also won 31 caps for Belgium, and played a key part in their run to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018.

It remains to be seen how much Dalian Yifang demand for their player, with Unai Emery's transfer budget limited due to Arsenal's failure to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The Spanish manager is desperate to add to his squad this summer, and may allow a number of players to leave in order to free up space.
