According to Bild, Carrick's position as manager of Manchester United is once again in jeopardy, with Kieran McKenna being seen as the favorite to replace him. Several British media outlets have reported that Carrick's job is under serious scrutiny.
The former Manchester United player took over the team in the second half of last season, leading them back to the Champions League and rekindling fans' hopes. However, after only four league games this season, Manchester United sits 13th in the table. The team also lost 3-2 to Brighton in the League Cup, suffering elimination. Carrick, who replaced Amorim in January 2026, was initially tasked with stabilizing the team, but now faces a similar threat to his predecessor.
Carrick is expected to remain in the dugout for the match against Fulham, but Manchester United's board has sent a clear signal: defeat is not an option. The international break follows this match, providing a potential window for a managerial change. Discussions about potential replacements have already begun within the club.
McKenna is currently the top candidate. The Northern Irishman led Ipswich to promotion to the Premier League before taking an unexpected break in the summer. He previously worked as a coach in Manchester United's academy and first team. Last week, McKenna was invited by Manchester United's board to watch a match in person.
Conte is also on the shortlist. The former Chelsea manager is familiar with the Premier League and could be a high-profile option for Manchester United. For Carrick, the Fulham match is about far more than securing three points—it could determine his future at the club.

busy focusing on the wrong selection of the team forgetting the players mistakes I believe the board saw and everyone else that Diogo played rubbish and costed the team with his sluggish passes, the other thing that can help carrick is to realize that the chemistry of trying to integrate rashford in the team is not working he only needs to stick with the team that brought him this far, the one he used last season

Carrick is a good coach from what we saw last year.i.e bringing United to champion league.I know he is afraid of injuries since he has couple of leagues to play this yr.But was embarrase with him with the match against Brighton. How can he pair 2 academic players to play the center defence?leny and Heavens. He had to put Maguire nor Martinez .Either Miguire plays with Heavens or Martinez plays w leny yoro

it's too early to make such headlines cos Man Utd board gotta understand that last season was Carrick's beginner's luck while this season and going forward is what defines him and the board will have a role to play in him making it or not he needs time like Arteta and pep got...

The problem is Carrick and the players. The players are too sluggish, slow and lazy. The match with Brighton, how can you put 2 inexperience nor academic players( Leny yoro n Heavens)to play center fence. He had to mix either Miguire with Heavens or or Martinez w leny

United management needs to look at the quality of players at the disposal of the coach. It's not about sacking the coach alone. The players are very sluggish

Manchester united don't want any trophies they want a coach who win games to fill up the stadium

The most annoying thing abt United is that, whilst their opponents are signing quality $100m players, they were signing 50 and 60m players, the whole 20 club in the premier League table, it's only United who made fewer mediocre signings but at the end they will blame the coach for not winning matches. How can he compete without quality players in the team. This happened in Jose era, Jose was good to have even win 2 major trophies for them.

In my standpoint it's not the right time to put Carrick in standoffish the league has just began at least allow him to explore his ideas after 10 games. I know fans have gone impatiently after the Brighton upset however don't look within the same box rather we shall try to walk on egg shells.

🤣🤣 United will hire and sack manager s in short time the results will be the same until it gives a manager more time to implement his philosophy not always using Ferguson philosophy time changes

Carrick is very quite and his assistant is not assisting him the way he suppose to do,let him resign before is too late. The match against Fulham is a most win, draw is not even good for him could you imagine the match against bridgton from 2 0 and then lose to 2 3 something was wrong from the technical side I wish them good luck against fulham, let him start the senior players.

If Carrick really cannot control & handle his players.. then he should be replace. After lead 2-0 in 1st half & lose 2-3 at the end of the game..it’s look like.. his players not obey his instruction or his instructions really useless..
Can I follow you. You spoke what I have been saying.

Manchester United management now become Chelsea management if you can't give success you will be out from the team. This is not the proper way Michael Carrick need time to overcome the the team game quality. If you can't give the time no one can give you successful team. Like Arsenal management they give Arteta more time to make the time and take positive way to manage the team they won the Premier League after 5 years in charge of arteta. So Michael Carrick also need time to make Manchester United great Again.

Your team has been sacking coaches in and out for years and its only gotten worse and worse. At one point, you gotta sit down and realize that is NOT the solution. Arsenal was sinking and they took the gamble to give Arteta all the time and necessary resources. Now everyone forgets how bad Arsenal was a few years ago. INEOS DID NOT even get any good players for Carrick this transfer window to bolster the squad and y'all still want him out. You're just furthering a destructive cycle
