Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has praised the club's supporters as 'unbelievable' in an emotional farewell message as he prepares to leave Old Trafford this summer
Casemiro has expressed his gratitude to the Manchester United supporters as he prepares to depart the club this summer. Back in January, the 34-year-old announced he would be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season.
During his spell at Old Trafford, the Brazilian, who arrived at United from Real Madrid for £60million in 2022, has racked up more than 150 appearances, netted some crucial goals and claimed two major trophies.
He has also established himself as a fans' favourite, with United fans regularly chanting, 'one more year, one more year Casemiro' in a heartfelt attempt to persuade him to stay at the Reds.
However, Casemiro will leave United when his deal expires at the end of June, meaning he has just two more fixtures - against Nottingham Forest and Brighton - left in a Reds shirt.
And ahead of his final home fixture against Forest on Sunday, Casemiro has delivered an emotional message to the United faithful, describing the support as "unbelievable".
Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube Channel, Casemiro said: "In this moment? For me, the best thing in this club is the fans. I played a long time in Madrid and I lost games. In the next game... It's very difficult. And here, it doesn't matter. Support. Support, help every time.
"For me, it's a big surprise. For me, the best thing here is the fans. Every time, help, fans. Support, support, support, support. It doesn't matter the game.
"I remember the game against Lyon. We lost 3-1, I think. And the fans... Help, support, help, help, help. And we changed the game. But I think... The thing most surprising... It's my opinion. It's my opinion.
"The thing most surprising, the best thing in this club is the fans. The fans here. It doesn't matter the game. It doesn't matter if you draw, you lose, you win. Every game."
When asked to elaborate further on his connection with the United supporters, Casemiro added: "I think maybe because of this. I play in Madrid. I know, you lose there. I swear, it's very difficult. Because it's about this. The player from Madrid needs help. Because you need to be strong. You need to be strong in the head. And here, you lose in the next game, support again, support again, support again.
"I love it, I love it. It's unbelievable for me."
Casemiro enjoyed nine trophy-laden years at Real Madrid prior to his switch to Manchester, claiming numerous major titles including the Champions League five times and La Liga on three occasions. Yet, despite securing fewer trophies at United, he remains adamant the backing has been far superior.
