Cesc Fabregas: This Como player has the potential to match Busquets

Como coach Cesc Fabregas is convinced by the potential of Maxi Perrone.

Cesc and Como fought hard to sign the Argentine midfielder from Manchester City over the summer.

Asked about former Barcelona teammate Sergi Busquets announcing his plans to retire at the end of the MLS season with Inter Miami, Cesc said: "An incredible friend and person, as well as a footballer. He's like his family. I think the time has come, he should make room for young players.

"But he's a player you fall in love with. They're players you never see on the pitch, but if they don't play, you understand their importance. Many congratulations to him because having a career like that is incredible, at such a high level. He's done it for 11 years straight, he lives well, eats well, sleeps well, even though it's hard to do that when you're young. He's done it in an incredible way, he wants to be a coach and I wish him the best of luck.

"As for the other question (is there a potential Busquets at Como?), I think it could be Perrone, he has similar characteristics to Busquets. He's very good at the short game, but he needs to grow and make longer passes, start looking further ahead to make changes of play... if he starts to improve in this area, he'll enter another world and reach another level.

"He's very intelligent, like Busquets, he has significant room for growth."
