After that loss against Juventus, here's my full-time thoughts. ▪️ Quenda was Chelsea's best player today. His link-up play with Palestra was excellent, he looked fearless on the ball, and he was always trying to make something happen. A very promising debut. ▪️ Palestra continues to impress me. His overlapping runs, energy, and understanding with Quenda gave Chelsea most of their attacking threat in the first half. ▪️ Caicedo reminded everyone why he's undroppable. He won duels, protected the back four, and controlled the midfield before he came off. ▪️ Welbeck worked hard on his debut. His movement and link-up play were good, but he'll be disappointed not to score from Quenda's cross. ▪️ João Pedro didn't get many chances, but his hold-up play was good. He helped Chelsea progress the ball and linked attacks well. ▪️ Chelsea's biggest problem is still creating and finishing chances. We had decent possession, but we didn't do enough with it. Football isn't about keeping the ball; it's about creating and scoring. ▪️ The second-half substitutions completely disrupted our rhythm. We looked less organised, and Juventus punished us with a moment of quality. ▪️ Our decision-making in the final third has to improve. Too many attacks ended with the wrong pass, poor cross, or a lack of conviction. ▪️ Defensively, we gave Zhegrova too much space. It was a fantastic finish, but he should never have been allowed that much room to shoot. Overall, I'm not worried about the result because it's pre-season. What matters is seeing improvement, and there were positives today, especially from Quenda, Palestra, and Caicedo. But if Chelsea want to compete this season, we have to become much more ruthless in the final third. Chelsea 0-1 Juventus.
