Match Report
Chelsea and Manchester United shared the spoils at Stamford Bridge in what was the Red Devils' first Premier League game since the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The first half was, on the whole, uneventful as Chelsea failed to capitalise on their dominance, with Antonio Rudiger coming the closest to opening the scoring with a long-range effort which struck the bar.
The first goal of the game came just five minutes into the second period, however, as Jadon Sancho latched onto a poor touch from Jorginho to give United an unlikely lead.
This opened the match up as Chelsea went in search of an equaliser, and United didn't seem content to settle on their lead, as they brought Cristiano Ronaldo off the bench with just under half an hour to play.
The equaliser came, though, with just over 20 minutes of regulation time remaining when Aaron Wan-Bissaka caught Thiago Silva in the area and Jorginho calmly converted the subsequent penalty to make up for his earlier error.
Timo Werner then missed a golden chance after being played in by Jorginho, but his shot was blocked by Wan-Bissaka.
Thomas Tuchel introduced Romelu Lukaku, who hadn't played since October 20 against Malmo, in the hope that the Belgian could grab the winner against his old side.
Chelsea continued to press for the decisive goal as the clock ticked down, but Edouard Mendy nearly gave United another gift as he played the ball straight to Fred, whose poor lob attempt didn't punish the Blues goalkeeper's mistake.
Rudiger's chance to be the hero
Rudiger had a great chance in the final seconds but blazed a volley over the bar side meaning neither side could find a way to goal in the dying moments.
This draw leaves Chelsea just one point ahead of second-placed Manchester City after 13 games in the Premier League with United in 8th.

Any reasonable football enthusiast who watched the game would know that Chelsea were the better team in both halfs tbh but, Man u just capitalised on one mistake. That's the mentality of a middle placed Epl team. Why did Man u not play Chelsea like a big team, high intense football and see what happens?, they (Man u have terrible issues in their defense), it was so easy for CHO to get two good chances to score. Anyway, the real villain here is Chelsea themselves who failed to pipe man u at least 3 goals in the first half. We played Man u like a small team. It all started from when Werner was started today over pulisic right to Alonso's laziness to Jorgi's lapse of concentration. It's so bizzare how we had over 4 shots on target and yet we still scored from a penalty. Damn anyway, we are Chelsea, this wayward game won't put us down. Time to focus on the next game KTBFFH

I think Chelsea were exposed a little bit. united wasn't confident enough to push the ball forward once they won it. too many sideways and back passing. yeah chelsea played well but it's obviously a better performance from united. if teams would press Chelsea defence high up, I wouldn't be surprised they would commit many mistakes.
