Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea recorded a fourth consecutive win in all competitions with Alvaro Morata's brace downing Crystal Palace.
Match Events
32' GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Crystal Palace (Morata)
The Spaniard opens the scoring with a neat finish from close range. Pedro caused the damage with a run into the box and he was not closed down by the Palace defence.
His first strike was charged down before he scuffed his second attempt. The ball found its way to Morata, who took one touch to control before burying his strike into the bottom corner.
53' GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Crystal Palace (Townsend)
Palace are level with a strike on the counter from Townsend. The winger plays a neat one-two with McArthur and bursts away from David Luiz into the box.
There's still work to do on his weaker foot, but Townsend buries his effort with power into the bottom corner giving Kepa no chance.
McArthur releases Townsend with a neat pass with the outside of his boot, allowing the winger to finish in style.
65' GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace (Morata)
Morata restores Chelsea's advantage with a fine finish at the back post. Hazard's free-kick into the box travelled all the way through to the forward beyond the back stick.
He took touch to control before drilling a left-footed effort towards the target. It travelled through a crowd of players before finding the bottom corner. Relief for the Blues.
70' GOAL! Chelsea 3-1 Crystal Palace (Pedro)
The Blues take control of the contest as the Spaniard converts in the box. Chelsea build down the left flank and Alonso is afforded space and time to fire a low cross into the penalty area.
Palace fail to cut out the danger and Pedro times his run before firing past Hennessey from 10 yards.
Match Report
Alvaro Morata continued his strong recent form with a brace as Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday.
Morata gave Chelsea the lead by finishing well after good work from Pedro, but Palace levelled when a one-two with James McArthur caught David Luiz out of position and Andros Townsend beat Kepa Arrizabalaga with a fine drive.
The improving Morata, though, scored his fourth goal in as many Premier League appearances, converting a free-kick from substitute Eden Hazard to set the Blues up a fourth consecutive win in all competitions.
And when Pedro turned in a cross from another Spaniard, flying left-back Marcos Alonso, Chelsea were able to celebrate moving up to second place in the table.

This is the first time since the 1978-79 season that three top-flight teams have gone unbeaten in their opening 11 games of a league campaign (Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool).

Alvaro Morata has scored in back-to-back games in the Premier League for the first time since November 2017 Eden Hazard is only the third player to assist a goal in three consecutive substitute appearances in the Premier League, after Tomasz Radzinski for Everton in March 2004, and Arjen Robben for Chelsea in April 2005. Andros Townsend has scored three goals in the Premier League against Chelsea, more than he has against any other opponent in the competition. Equaliser.

Morata lost a clear one on one. He ruined his fine form
The last attempt? that was unfortunate cos Henessy is like 7ft tall lol. That chip would have gone in if it was someone like De Gea....

Finally someone else that knew Robben played for us. Most people are baffled since they don't know he played for us and Madrid before lol.

Always loved Pedro glad he’s banging in them in regularly for us now
Yeah this is his system for sure, especially knowing the fact that he's affiliated with tiki taka he's the perfect player for us to use. If it was any other system he would be behind Willian for sure...

Zaha is a damn monster. Needs to move to a bigger club. Meaning no offense to Palace.

OMG, Morata scored a double? What's the date today? We need to make a frame & gift it to him, with the date & time, because Morata & goals come together once in a blue moon.

he was a great player back then...
We lost a lot of good guys bro. Salah, De Bruyne, Robben are just a few of many. We even lost Mata, Oscar etc who were sold despite being so good for the club. Some of our clubs actions never made sense. Perhaps with Sarri, it'll be the first time they put faith in a manager for more than 3 years since we seem to have an issue of discarding managers and players too quickly...

But that was really painful. He would have given himself a hatrick
Yeah but look at the bright side, this could signal the start of Morata adapting to the league and slowly but surely turning into a fine striker. I mean most don't know this but Drogba wasn't that great in his first season for us and even in his second took time to get into it but by the third he was like a top 3 striker in the league easily. It takes time and patience with strikers unless they're already highly developed products. Remember before us Morata was never really first choice in his club career...

hazard is not, BTW he is Muslim
He isn't bro. Our community needs to stop thinking every player is Muslim when they compliment the deen or show kindness to the people.

I only hope that he continues this form and it's not a repeat of last season where he scored 16 then disappears. I want to see at least 20 from him to be convinced he's a capable striker...

i m so happy for him, started the season on fire, 3 goals in first 4 games but afterwords the idiot from PAOK (El Kaddouri) pushed him into the keeper and injured him quite seriously.
