Chelsea could be set to become the first club to bid for the highly rated Frenchman Christopher Nkunku.
Nkunku, 24, is thought to be one of the most sought-after players on the planet this summer as Europe's giants will look to test the resolve of RB Leipzig.
According to French publication L'Equipe, Chelsea could be the first club to bid for the forward, with the west London outfit having been reported long-term admirers of the player.
Chelsea's new owner, Todd Boehly, will reportedly provide Thomas Tuchel with a significant amount of money to rebuild his squad this summer. The club are believed to want to reinforce their forward options following Romelu Lukaku's much-publicised troubles this season.
Nkunku would represent a coup for the club, with the player having registered 20 goals and 15 assists in the league for RB Leipzig this season. His involvement in the creative aspect of the game chimes with how Tuchel expects his forwards to play.
Chelsea, however, are unlikely to have a free run at the player.
Manchester United, L'Equipe also suggest, are said to be interested in the player. Interestingly, Newcastle, spurred on by their Saudi Public Investment Fund backers, are said to have an interest in the forward, although it is reported that they would currently not be Nkunku's first choice destination.
Despite this, RB Leipzig are said to have no intention of selling their prized asset this summer and, with two years left on his current deal, it would seemingly take a sizeable offer to prize him away from the German club.
The Frenchman's impressive season was capped off earlier this month by a crucial equaliser in the DFB Pokal final against Freiburg. The game eventually went to penalties are a 1-1 deadlock, with RB Leipzig prevailing 4-2.
Nkunku, who has been subject to interest from Europe's top clubs for a long while, including a potential move back to his boyhood club Paris Saint Germain, told reporters ahead of France's Nations League clash that the speculation surrounding his future was 'flattering'.
‘Paris, I’ve always said it, it’s my home, my heart club,’ the forward said.
He added: ‘I don’t close any doors. Everything is possible in football.
‘It’s flattering to have the biggest clubs in the world interested in me. But it’s also flattering that Leipzig is doing everything to keep me.
‘We are in June, and I am focused on this gathering.’

To say the truth it seems many Chelsea fans are uncomfortable with d club's style of signing and renewing players' contracts. If not bcos of dragging too much we should have renewed rudiger's contract long time b4 Abramovich sanctions was announced. Also I wish we copy how Liverpool and man city sign their players without dragging too much. see how Dias was signed in January without much noise. likewise how man city signed Alvarez . The earlier a club signs new players in preparation for the next season the better . Tuchel must restratigize for better results in terms of signing new players.

Well whatever I said is a "joke" according to you so I just replied back in kind. Anyways we clearly see it differently about Grealish. You're literally judging him over one season at Man City because you've never watched him play at Aston Villa. Likewise Nkunku literally just had one prolific season in terms of goals and assists and people are getting giddy. Football is much more than just goals and assists so I prefer to judge them from the eye test.

my friend, comparing or not comparing Nkunku to Eden Hazard, Nkunku has potential to be one of the best player in world, in fact football coming and when we're talking about the likes of Eden Hazard is now history and history is the past
Dude even our academy players have potential to be the best. Why bother spending 50 odd million on a Bundesliga farmer with potential when you can just back the academy boys who have developed their trade in the quicker and more physical league? If we're going to spend, we need world class, experienced internationals coming in, not a bunch of novices with "potential"

I've watched Jack Grealish and I've seen Nkunku. Grealish is a far better technician than Nkunku. And this is not even English bias. Grealish is much better at dribbling and playmaking. You can't look too much into his first Man City season because Pep demands his players to adapt to his specific system. Grealish will shine next season. He's already shown signs of that in the final few weeks of the season. And yes Moussa Diaby is certainly better than Nkunku. He may not have as many goals as Nkunku but you can clearly see that at a younger age, he's got more explosiveness and pace than Nkunku. His end product is gradually improving. A few years ago, Griezmann was challenging the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for a Ballon d'or honour and let's not forget his amazing performances over the years in a France shirt. Dembélé has shown so much quality in the second half of the season in La Liga that he's now leading the assists charts in one of the toughest leagues in the world. So absolutely the players competing for his spot in that France team are much better than Nkunku.
this is seriously a joke that Grealish is better than Nkunku I don't believe that and it is not true. Every other players are better than him that's why he can't challenge them on national duties and he is still growing up he will fight for his place and moreover they are playing in a bigger club than him so what did you expect? He will shine in a bigger club because if he could score 10goals plus 15assists in a single season at Chelsea he must surely partake fully in the national side

common bro is not as if they are better than him but those players have Clement their position in the national team and Nkunku has been call on for national duties by deschamp. As long as Maguire was bought 85m Nunez worth 100m like Rice so don't say that nobody will buy them that price. Jack Grealish was bought 100m don't forget that and he is never close to Nkunku.

One thing is for sure. We won't be spending 150 million on Declan Rice and 100 million on Darwin Núñez. Likewise nobody in their right mind will spend 90 million on Rashford. All of these players you mentioned are massively overpriced. And as for Nkunku, yes I will definitely judge him on national team performances. If the likes of Griezmann, Dembélé and Coman are better than Nkunku, why should we pursue Nkunku? It would be better to target Griezmann or Coman who are "better players". Even Moussa Diaby is above Nkunku in the pecking order. Why should we settle for second rate players? I don't get it.

Well you are seriously making a point but where do you want him to play in the national team where you have benzema, mbappe, coman, greizman and many fantastic players don't judge him by national performance. And he is a young player that has great future that's why his market value is that high 50m is not too much for Nkunku what then will you say of Declan Rice 150m and Nunez of benfica 100m even Sancho and Rashford 90m c'mon bro he is not overated at all I bet you if this guy is an English player his market value will be up to 200m

I've watched his game. He's really slow. All he does is a few neat dribbles and some good passes, that's about it. He doesn't have the pace and physicality for the PL. I'd rather sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest who actually has way more potential and impressed in the FA Cup
We just need to concentrate on our own player and develop them

There is a reason why Bayern Munich wins the Bundesliga every season. They are levels above the rest of the Bundesliga. Moreover, the achievements of Bundesliga players in the UCL is a consequence of having more recovery time in between games by virtue of having lesser fixtures across the club football calendar. They play 34 Bundesliga fixtures and the DFB Pokal competition. So physically they're in good condition to compete in the UCL and this aspect makes a huge difference. I wouldn't get too giddy on UCL performances. Take the example of Sebastien Haller. He's one of the top scorers in the UCL but he was a flop at West Ham. Luka Jović was scoring a lot at Eintracht Frankfurt but simply hasn't proven his worth at Real Madrid. The Bundesliga tax is real mate. With all due respect, it's not a good league and isn't a good yardstick to judge players. I'm not saying that all players in the Bundesliga are bad. But they definitely need to possess the technical qualities, physicality and mobility to adapt to the tougher leagues. I don't see it in Christopher Nkunku. I cannot understand how RB Leipzig can charge over 50 million for this guy. I don't see anything special in him to be leaving for such an enormous amount. If he's that good, he should be a regular starter in the France national team. But of course he isn't because he's way overrated in the market right now.

I understand you perfectly bro but I'm not comparing him to fabregas and ozil I'm not that stupid of course but I'm just trying to tell you that speed doesn't matter what matters is the ability. Are you seriously comparing the technical qualities of Fàbregas and Özil to Nkunku? [Crylaugh] His skillset is very basic and limited mate. Likewise Werner doesn't have a good repertoire of skills to his game. He's just a mere pace merchant who gets scared every time someone tries to tackle him for the ball. And furthermore, the quality of defending in the Bundesliga is as good as schoolboy level. Do me a favour and watch the YouTube clip of all his goals and assists this season. You'll see just how terrible the defending in the Bundesliga actually is. Most of those goals and assists he accumulated in the Bundesliga wouldn't be goals and assists in La Liga or PL or even Serie A. The defending in those leagues I just mentioned is much more organised and disciplined. Defenders are prepared to put their bodies on the line. It's not the case in the Bundesliga.

Did you say slow? Ur speed rate don't guarantee how good you are. Fabregas and mesut ozil are not fast but they are fantastic midfielders. Timo Werner has spend and pace but take a good look at his kind of football. Nkunku is an attacking midfielder yet registered so many goals and assists. I know that too many unseen talented and fantastic players are in the EFL and ligue 1 I know that but Leipzig is not a big team yet he is seen. for goodness sake that dude won bundesliga best player
