Thomas Tuchel 'could make a swift return to management following his sacking by Paris Saint-Germain' with reports in Germany linking him to Chelsea.
The 47-year-old German coach was fired by PSG last week, just four months after leading them to the final of the Champions League, with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino primed to replace him.
Tuchel has received a pay-off of £5.4million and would be free to take over at another club right away.
And, according to German newspaper Bild, Chelsea could be that club if Frank Lampard cannot arrest their downturn in form that has seen three defeats in four Premier League matches.
Bild report that Tuchel would be interested in the Chelsea job if the opportunity arose and would relish the opportunity to work with Germany internationals Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Antonio Rudiger.
Tuchel isn't planning a lengthy sabbatical following his departure from PSG and is open to offers.
There was contact between Chelsea and Tuchel when he left Borussia Dortmund back in 2017.
Lampard's team have suffered defeats to Everton, Wolves and Arsenal in recent weeks in a dent to their Premier League title aspirations.
They will be looking for a response in Monday's home fixture against Aston Villa, otherwise Lampard will come under further pressure.
Lampard guided Chelsea to a fourth place finish last season - his first in charge at Stamford Bridge - and they also reached the final of the FA Cup, losing to Arsenal.
The Gunners, struggling in the bottom half of the table, exposed several flaws in the Chelsea team in their 3-1 win on Boxing Day. But prior to their current sticky patch, Chelsea had gone 17 matches unbeaten in all competitions.
Lampard was highly critical of his players after the loss at the Emirates, saying: 'You learn more about your players when they are on a bad run.
'I learn about the players and the players have to learn about themselves.
'Some of them are young and these tough times are things that we will have to go through.
'I don't think this season was ever going to be plain sailing, winning every week.
'But the players lacked character against Arsenal and they know that.'

Best news ever WOW 💙💙💙 We've been suffering under Frank Lampard is enough! He must be sacked now! i miss my Chelsea. Chelsea under Lampard is not going anywhere, Lampard has turned Chelsea fc into an average team. Welcome Tomas Tuchel 🤗🤗🤗 Please play Timo Werner in his position and make HAVERTZ what Havertz was in the Bundesliga. And oh please sell Tammy and bench mount when he's not performing well

its really sad how some fans want lampard out after one bad spell. when we were on that 17 game unbeaten run some fans were talking about us being title challengers, but they become toxic so quickly. it was a given when we signed lampard that he was chosen for a long term project, not immediate success. and thats y lampard has signed younger players like werner havertz chilwell and sarr. yes lampard is a little inexperienced and he makes bad decisions every now and then, but give him time, he will learn along with the team. and i don't understand how people blame lampard when players don't perform. some geniuses say that werner needs to play in strike and the reason hes not performing is because hes on the left wing. this makes no sense. if u have watched werner play, the biggest problem is that he misses big chances. he misses one on one chances that he really should be scoring. if he scored even 60-70% of his chances he would easily have 10+ goals this season. sure if hes playing as a striker he'll have more chances, but until he starts converting them its no use. and u can't blame lampard for this. he didn't sign werner knowing that this would happen nor is he giving him special extra training sessions on missing chances. werner is just going through a rough patch and im sure he'll turn up, hopefully sooner rather than later. and its annoying because when we signed werner, us fans were gassed up, and almost everyone was saying how hes so versatile, how he can play strike, but can also play on the left with abraham in the middle. the same thing with havertz. when we signed him, fans were hyping up his versatility, saying he can play no.10, he can play no.8, he can even play on the right or as a false 9 if needed. and at the start of the season when havertz was being deployed as anything other than a 10 and he didnt perform, fans would slate lampard for playing him out of position. its very easy to sit on our couches and blabber without any proper knowledge of what it takes to manage a club. we need to give lampard at the very least until the end of this season before we can decide that hes not what this club needs to move forward. but i believe he'll come good and will build a legacy if given a season or 2. it was obvious that lampard was chosen to build for the future, theres no other reason to select a manager with only one year of experience, and lampard is one of the best for the job because he lives and bleeds chelsea.

Simply Chelsea managerial work is a big shoes for Lampard .... Lampard doesn’t even have experience that much , he was supposed to be under an experienced coach so that he can learn some tricks just like what John Terry is doing now or even Arteta did... you cant choose Abraham over Giroud or even start to make subs on 70mins best coaches like Klopp starts making subs on 60th mins so that a player can get time to fit in a match ..... i will always believe John Terry would be a better coach than Lampard right now .... and Chelsea needs a primitive and experienced coach , Lampard has been too much politely on players not too demanding .... you have to be so demanding like how other coaches are like Mourinho if a player dont play well he is not playing PERIOD !! Not like Lampard giving Abraham a lot of chances , a lot of mins to play and he is still yet to deliver

i have three questions for you 1. what makes somebody a better manager? 2. Frank Lampard is better than Thomas Tuchel? 3. why do you think Frank is better than Thomas Tuchel?
1. A better manager is someone who can develop players and get the very best of them, and also have a flexible approach by knowing when to attack and when to defend. 2. Yes 3. Frank is better than Tuchel because: a) He has more experience in English football than Tuchel b) Tuchel inherited world class forwards/midfielders in his squads. At PSG, he had the luxury of working with Mbappé, Neymar, Di María, Icardi, Cavani, Herrera, Sarabia, etc. At Borussia Dortmund, he had the privilege of working alongside Aubameyang, Reus, Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Ousmane Dembélé, Götze, etc. While Lampard inherited an aging Willian and Pedro, an injury prone Callum Hudson-Odoi, an unproven Pulisic who also is injury prone, and Hakim Ziyech who is world class but also getting injured frequently. c)Tuchel has managed in the farmer's leagues and still underachieved. In the current season, PSG are at 3rd place despite the quality they've inherited for years after splashing ridiculous amounts. I'm telling you mate. We might sack Lampard and hire Tuchel but within a year, you'd want Tuchel out as well and he certainly won't improve us. You have no idea what you're talking about. Tuchel is an awful manager.
