Match Report
Mauricio Pochettino claimed his second win as the new Chelsea manager after his side came from a goal down to defeat Brighton 4-3 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Danny Welbeck put the Seagulls ahead after just 13 minutes, rifling home on the half-volley after combining in a well-worked move with Kaoru Mitoma and former Chelsea star Billy Gilmour.
But the Blues would recover soon after with new signing Christopher Nkunku scoring his second goal during this pre-season campaign, flicking the ball into the net with a cute touch after the Blues worked the ball into the Brighton penalty area in a very smart move.
With the scores level at half-time, both sides would miss several opportunities to take the lead before Roberto De Zerbi's side went down to ten men. Jan paul van Hecke had moments earlier received a yellow card, but in a rash moment, stepped in to make another robust challenge Cesare Casadei, earning himself a second card.
The Blues would take advantage of their additional numbers moments after, with Mykhailo Mudryk belting in a stunning half-volley on the edge of the box.
Connor Gallagher would add to the scores on the 72nd minute, before new signing Nicolas Jackson would break free from the Brighton defence to score his first goal for the London side, making it 4-3.
While Chelsea looked in control, De Zerbi's side had other ideas with Brighton target, Levi Colwill, conceding a penalty before Joao Pedro converted from the spot.
And just as things seemed to be winding down, Pedro would produce a winding run along the left flank of the goal before finding Deniz Undav in the middle of the penalty area. The German would make no mistake with his shot, firing the ball into the right corner of the penalty area.

This Chelsea fans are very funny, It tells me most of them don't watch other leagues if not they would have seen how Good Nicklas Jackson was for Villarreal just last season also they need to get a new goalie because Kepa is a bucket, if you shoot from outside its a goal lmao 🤣🤣🤣 Nkunku is a baller & would score at least 12+ goals or more if he is played just behind the striker, Good luck

🚨🗣️ José Mourinho on signing Didier Drogba for Chelsea: "In 2003, I coached Porto and we faced Marseille in the Champions League. That evening, Drogba scored and celebrated his goal as if it were his last, the atmosphere at the Stade Vélodrome went crazy, the noise was deafening." "At half-time, I passed him in the tunnel and said to him: "I don't have the money to buy you, but do you have any cousins in Ivory Coast who can play like you?". "He laughed, hugged me and said: "One day you will be in a club that can buy me." "6 months later, I signed for Chelsea... I had several options, but I arrived and said: "I want Didier Drogba". Some people had doubts, wondering about Didier: "Why this one?", "Why not that one?", "Are you sure he will adapt to the Premier League?" Is he really that good?". " Despite these questions, I repeated "I want Didier Drogba." "Eventually, Didier became a legend at Chelsea. Those goals have brought him titles and accolades, but what sticks with me are the countless stories we have together." 💙 The Special One & The King Drogba were a Special Duo Together! 🔥🔥
