Chelsea transfer news: The Blues have been linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe this summer, but could strike a deal that works for all parties.
The Frenchman has been linked with an exit from the French capital this summer as a very public transfer narrative plays out between himself and the club. The 24-year-old refused to trigger a one-year extension on his contract, which leaves just 12-months remaining on his current deal.
As a result, PSG officials gave an ultimatum that stated a new extension must be signed or a sale will be agreed over the summer. With the latter looking the more likely, the club decided to keep Mbappe behind from their pre-season tour of Japan, leaving him to train with a group of players left out of the project.
The deal wouldn't come cheap though, given that he is a world class player and is very highly rated, even with just one year left on his contract. That is without including the wages and extra bonus fees thrown on top, which will only elevate the cost of the move.
The pair seem unlikely to be involved in the project at Stamford Bridge going forwards, with moves for them yet to be agreed. Ziyech had come close to joining PSG on loan in January, but paperwork wasn't filed in time to allow for the switch, though that mistake could be solved with a permanent deal.
He could help solve the problems on the wing that PSG currently face, which would be only emphasised by the loss of Mbappe this summer. Lukaku could equally help plug a gap in the striker position, with a clinical attacker still in there somewhere despite a few seasons of struggle.
Overall it would see PSG land two players that would bolster their squad, while Chelsea move on a pair that won't be part of the current project. It would also see the French club end the Mbappe saga, while the Blues land a top talent on a reduced transfer fee.
It remains to be seen if that is possible in the coming weeks of the window, but it could certainly help if the west London outfit made such a proposal.
