Chelsea confirm former Manchester City chief Tom Glick as the club's new President of Business

Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Tom Glick as the club's new President of Business following the departures of Marina Granovskaia, Bruce Buck and Petr Cech.

Glick, who was previously Manchester City's chief commercial and operating officer, will assume responsibility for day-to-day operations at Chelsea.

The 30-year-old will be responsible for managing the club's global commercial strategy, driving revenue growth and enhancing fan engagement.

Prior to joining Manchester City in 2012, Glick was the chief executive of Derby County. He completed a for a four year spell at the club before leaving to join the Citizens.

Glick also worked with the New Jersey Nets and the NBA before overseeing the creation of Major League Soccer's Charlotte Football Club - which Chelsea will face on July 21 as part of their US pre-season tour.

The 30-year-old was most recently the President of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers franchise. While in English football, he has served on the Football League Board, the FA Council, and the Professional Game Board.

Speaking about his appointment at Chelsea, Glick told the club's official website: 'Chelsea FC is an iconic sports institution, known and admired all over the world.

'I have been very impressed with the vision and mission of Todd Boehly and Clearlake. They have the Chelsea community at the heart of everything they do.

'We have a huge opportunity here to enhance performance across the board, on behalf of everyone we serve.'

While Boehly, the club's chairman and co-controlling owner, said: 'Tom's successful track record as a leader and innovator at several respected and winning sport organisations made him the obvious choice for this position.

'His skills and experience will be vital as we improve Chelsea FC's key infrastructure, expand the Club's products and reputation, and find exciting new ways for our loyal supporters to engage with their favourite players.'

Glick's appointment marks one of many changes behind the scenes at Chelsea following Boehly's takeover at Stamford Bridge.

Buck (the club's former chairman), Granovskaia (the club's former sporting director), Petr Cech (the club's former Technical and Performance Advisor) and Guy Lawrence (the club's former Chief Executive) all left following the club's takeover at the end of May.

As a result, Glick will assume the responsibilities of the day-to-day running of the club - replacing Granovskaia. He will also take charge of the club's commercial strategy  to replace Lawrence.
