The two sides first met in a penalty shootout in the 2007 Champions League semi-final, with Chelsea losing 4-1. Chelsea suffered another shootout defeat in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup, losing 5-4.
In 2022, the two sides met in the League Cup and FA Cup finals, with Chelsea losing on penalties 11-10 and 6-5, respectively. Facing Liverpool again, Chelsea once more lost the shootout, missing out on a place in the League Cup quarter-finals.

the challenge with penalties is unique, in our days of "orchard rangers football" we saw the magic full (where in our minds we place it so wonderful, but in reality the reverse is the case). its not easy as seen, that's just the way it is.

How can Fofana take a penalty. Estevao benched for the entirety of the match because Alonso hates Brazilians. He carried that same hatred he had for Vini Jr and poured it on Estevao. If he(Alonso) continues like this without giving that lad a chance he will definitely push for a move and this won't go down well with the fan base. Hatred aside, play a player when it's necessary to save some matches. Does he want to tell me that if Palmer is injured he won't Estevao? He'd rather play Quenda in place of Estevao who has gotten one year EPL experience under his belt because he hates that boy. Alonso, time is ticking. Keep your hatred aside so you don't lose more than this
