It’s increasingly unlikely Maurizio Sarri will be the new Chelsea manager, as the club won’t pay his release clause and met Laurent Blanc.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed today that he has “not received any contact” from Chelsea or other clubs ready to pay the €8m release clause in Sarri’s contract.
Even though Sarri was fired last week to make way for Carlo Ancelotti, his contract is still valid and his salary paid, so De Laurentiis has no intention of simply letting his former Coach go scot free.
“There has not been any contact, no club has called me. I don’t give discounts, as I have to defend my fans. The clause is there to defend me and allow me to make certain decisions.
“When my decisions are not respected and I am asked to modify the contract, you have to then respect it. You ask me for more money, you got that and so therefore now the clause must be respected, otherwise it’s not a bilateral contract.”
There are reports in Italy today that Chelsea do not intend to pay the €8m release clause, which expires on Thursday anyway.
It means either Sarri will have to negotiate a termination with Napoli by mutual consent or he’ll stay off the market for a year.
According to France Football, Chelsea are already looking elsewhere to replace Antonio Conte, as director Marina Granovskaia met with former Paris Saint-Germain boss Blanc.
He was a Chelsea player during the Claudio Ranieri era and his last management job was in 2016.
Blanc worked at Bordeaux from 2007 to 2010, then had an ill-fated two-year spell as Coach of France.

if Roman is tired of Chelsea he should just sell it off,how can a big club like ChelseaFC be always involved in speculations for either players or coaches, other serious clubs have started preparing for next season buying good quality players and appointing managers, chelsea is still speculating, how can we even be going after sarri or even blanc, are they better than Conte?if u want to keep Conte come publicly n say u keep faith with ur manager n let him prepare n focus for next season,no top quality player or coach will come to a club that is very unstable.

You have got to be fucking kidding me😮what the hell is wrong with Maria....The money is just 8 million.I can’t even begin to imagine what is going to happen next season if we miss out on Sarri. There are not much world class coaches out there and honestly among all our options Sarri is most qualified cos I have researched on his style of play and it is quiet similar to that of Liverpool.Thats exactly what CHELSEA needs right now.....a good tactician to make the players tick....Lorent Blanc will never be a better option than Sarri period....instead of wasting the money to buy more players use it to get Sari and bring in our on loan players who have Performed above espctation(Loftus Cheek,Mason Mount,Batuayi, and sell those who are just not up for it(Bakayoko,Drinkwater,e.tcAs well as other on loan players whom we don’t intend to keep. Why should a team like CHELSEA even be struggling to make money available for what needs to be done?Abramovic is gradually turning us into Arsenal....Mancity are still buying and look at us we can’t even secure a coach.....OMG!

I think Antonio Conte is still a good option for us. As u can see he fought for Epl tittle first season he arrived and won it and this just ended he got the F.A cup in hand. I think he is a good manager because he is reliable.....

If the board is going to sign all these players when Sarri arrives why not keep Conte and save €20m and put that into the transfer budget and give Conte some quality players. Sarri is a good coach but is he a serial winner ? We don't need higuain or Icardi or Lewandowski that's a waste of half our budget and our budget is already small. Morata is a good striker he just needs to settle. Drogba had a terrible first season but isn't he a club icon ? One of the premier leagues greats ? Remember Morata is only 25. Use the money that we would spend on a new striker which we don't need and perhaps improve other areas of the squad like our midfield. Fabregas is 31. Why not find a partner for Kanté. Somebody with energy to burn like Isco who would cost in the region of £80m or maybe even Jorginho. Keep Conte plz

I don't agree to sack antonio Conte and paid 9 milion, other side to bring Maurizio Zarri and also paid again 8 milion, that is not good financial management.
