Chelsea are ready to offer Luke Shaw a way out of Manchester United if the unhappy England defender leaves Old Trafford this summer.
Shaw’s future at United has been thrown into doubt once again after he was substituted at half-time against Brighton at the weekend and then subjected to more criticism from Jose Mourinho.
Shaw, 22, who is a Chelsea fan along with the rest of his family, is said to have been driven to despair by his treatment at the hands of Mourinho, and is likely to leave United at the end of the season - unless the manager goes first.
Sportsmail understands that Shaw’s camp are aware of interest from Chelsea, who lost out to United in the battle to sign the teenager when he left Southampton for United in a £31million deal in 2014.
Manchester City, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham - managed by Shaw’s former Saints coach Mauricio Pochettino - could also come into the reckoning if he leaves Old Trafford after four years.
It is no secret that Mourinho wants Tottenham left-back Danny Rose as a replacement for Shaw.
United triggered the 12-month option on Shaw’s £70,000-a-week deal to make sure he is under contract until the summer of 2019, and must now decide whether to sell him to one of their main rivals at the end of the season.
However, Shaw will not be forced out of the club unless it suits him and could decide to leave on a more lucrative free transfer next year.

I like Luke Shaw play for United. The facts is he cannot compete with Ashley Young. They’re both have own advantage in disadvantages. Young is an experience player who can pass the ball perfectly even from outside the wing box. His speed is more than Shaw. The disadvantage is his age is almost getting to the end. While for Shaw, he’s young and still have more times to develop to be better or even upper level than Ashley Young. Sometimes he played without sense. He just need encouragement & more playing time. This season Shaw is far improved than his previous years. If Shaw not happy with the club and wanted to go just let him go. At least his mind in peace to continue develop his career. But I wish United will keep both of them.
