Chelsea will re-assess the situation surrounding Tyrique George ahead of the January transfer window after his summer move collapsed and he established himself in the Blues' side

Chelsea will sit down with Tyrique George ahead of the January transfer window to get more clarity on his future, with the teenager set to have a major say over his next move.

The 19-year-old academy graduate nearly left in the summer as he closed in on a £22million move to west London neighbours Fulham on deadline day. However, it fell apart late in the day with the Cottagers pulling the plug at the eleventh hour.

RB Leipzig also had an interest in George, but since staying put at Stamford Bridge the youngster has been able to force his way into Enzo Maresca's plans. He's started and scored in games in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, whilst also featuring numerous times in the Premier League.

Maresca has utilised George as a striker, as opposed to a winger, but with Liam Delap returning from his hamstring injury the teenager could see his playing time cut. He has previously been advised that playing regular football is the best thing for his progress.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea’s co-director of recruitment and talent, Joe Shields, phoned George after his Fulham move collapsed to explain that he would be welcomed back to Maresca’s first-team squad - which has been the case.

Chelsea don't plan to force George to leave come the New Year, either permanently or on loan, but will hold talks with the teenager and his camp to see whether his career would be best served at the Blues, where there is a sizeable squad, or at pastures new.

Chelsea have several academy players in their academy, the likes of Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah, but have sold more than 40 homegrown players in the past decade which has resulted in them pocketing £315m from selling academy-developed talent across the last four seasons alone.

George was able to realise a dream when he scored in the recent demolition of Ajax in Europe as he said: "We’re all young and having fun. We’re having fun on the pitch and that’s it. The manager tells us to have fun and really be free when we’re in attacking areas, and that’s what we showed last night.

"It’s an amazing feeling. I’ve wanted it ever since I was eight years old, to score in the Champions League. It’s what dreams are made of. I think it’s just down to working day-by-day in training. I think that’s what’s making us win, so we just need to keep going and keep going."
