Chelsea news: The latest Blues headlines and gossip with updates on Josko Gvardiol, Graham Potter's future and Andrey Santos.

Zidane and Enrique in running to replace Potter

Graham Potter's job security at Chelsea has taken a major hit in the past 12 days. Last weekend's defeat to Tottenham was the latest disappointing performance in a series of poor outings by Potter's men.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Luis Enrique and Zinedine Zidane are both 'in the running' to replace Potter, should the decision be made to part ways. Enrique recently departed his role as manager of the Spain national team after they crashed out in the last 16 of the World Cup.

Josko Gvardiol interest renewed

Chelsea have renewed their interest in Red Bull Leipzig central defender Josko Gvardiol, according to reports.

Chelsea remain interested in Gvardiol, despite their abundance of central defenders at Graham Potter's disposal. The Times have reported that Todd Boehly has renewed his interest in the defender ahead of the summer.

However, the U.S billionaire faces an expensive ultimatum. Gvardiol's newly-signed contract is understood to include a release clause that comes into effect from 2024. Should Chelsea want to sign the defender, they must act this year to avoid paying a £97million release clause.

Andrey Santos loan confirmed

Chelsea have confirmed that Andrey Santos has returned Vasco da Gama on loan.

Santos, 18, joined the Blues in the January transfer window for a deal worth £16million. The midfielder is yet to feature for Chelsea after being given permission to represent his country at the Under-20 South American Championship, a tournament he won and finished as top scorer.

A statement on the club website read: "Andrey Santos is moving back to Brazil, re-joining his previous club Vasco da Gama on loan.

"The 18-year-old midfielder signed for Chelsea in January from his boyhood club, whom he helped to promotion to the top flight last year. He now has the opportunity to develop further at that level.

"Since joining Chelsea, Santos has starred in a triumph on the international stage. Brazil won the South American Under-20 Championship and he scored in the final against Uruguay. As captain of the side, Santos was the tournament’s joint top scorer with six goals.

"We wish Andrey well playing in Brazil’s Serie A."
