CHELSEA 0-3 PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN (2-8): On a night where Liam Rosenior's men needed to score goals to keep their European hopes alive they were blitzed by the French champions
Two goals in the opening 14 minutes for Paris Saint-Germain condemned Chelsea to an early exit from Europe as the reigning Champions League holders romped to a 7-2 aggregate triumph over their Premier League opponents.
Kvicha Kvaratskhelia scored after just six minutes before Bradley Barcola doubled PSG's advantage in the 14th minute to all but kill off the tie as a contest.
Both sides traded blows for the remainder of the game with Joao Pedro going close for the hosts before the break. It was Senny Mayulu who inflicted more pain on the hosts with a third in the second half as the Blues limped out of Europe at the Round of 16 stage.
Here are Mirror Football's talking points from the big match...
1) A nightmare start
Six minutes was all it took for PSG to put this tie to bed and condemn Chelsea to an early exit from the Champions League.
The reigning European champions went direct and Kvaratskhelia got the better of Mamadou Sarr, who let the ball squirm underneath him. The young defender's miscalculation left the Georgia attacker with a clear sight of goal - he was clinical, taking full advantage.
If the clinical Kvaratskhelia struck the fatal blow, then the brilliant Barcola rubbed salt into Chelsea wounds eight minutes later when he arrowed a brilliant effort beyond Robert Sanchez into the top corner to add gloss to PSG's already insurmountable aggregate lead.
2) Blues outclassed by the champions
Paris Saint-Germain were worthy winners of this tournament last year and punctuated their maiden Champions League triumph with a breathtaking 5-0 dismantling of Inter in the final.
And if there were any doubts over whether Luis Enrique's side are capable of defending their European crown, then this triumph over two legs will do some way to allaying them. Yes, they will face tougher challenges in their quest to go back-to-back. But to win any Champions League tie by SIX goals is quite the feat.
It would have been easy for them to turn up to Stamford Bridge complacent given the size of their aggregate lead. But in terms of efficiency, PSG were five-star on both sides of the channel.
3) James absence felt
Reece James was the big absentee for Chelsea, their captain suffering with a hamstring injury. And they certainly missed him on what had the potential to be a famous night at Stamford Bridge.
James is widely recognised as one of the best right-back's in the Premier League and any team would suffer without having a player of his quality available. He would have significantly aided Chelsea's cause were he available here - and the Blues will be much worse off if he is to miss the majority of their remaining games this season, along with the unfortunate Trevoh Chalobah who was stretchered off with a serious injury late on.
4) Fans don't hold back
PSG over two legs is a tough assignment for any team in Europe, but Chelsea failed to deliver on a night where they needed goals to stay alive in the Champions League.
The Stamford Bridge faithful booed loudly at the break after watching the visitors effectively kill the game as a tie inside six minutes with their early goal. And the mood had not improved an hour or so later when the curtain was officially brought down on Chelsea's Champions League campaign.
5) Rosenior and Co sent brutal reminder
If this were a boxing match, it would have been called off well before Mayulu added a third on the hour mark.
Liam Rosenior inherited a well-stocked squad when he was installed as Enzo Maresca's successor back in January. But their meeting with PSG will serve as an eye-opener to both he and the club's hierarchy over the gulf between them and Europe's elite.
Chelsea were crowned Club World Cup champions back in the summer and have a rich history in this competition, winning it twice. But they look and feel a long way from Europe's elite right now.

I'll say it. Antonio Conte was at Chelsea and he realised that the have been conceding a lot of goals so he changed formation to three central defenders 3:5:2 and he won the league without conceding too many goals. If he didn't score you didn't need to score but he scored then you can not equalise
keep crying 🤣🤪

Rosenior should change. And it is very important to bring a coach who can play well in technical aspects and players from their respective lines

Rosenior is not the right coach for Chelsea. Chelsea's prestigious coaching ranks include:

Cole Palmer is a good player so the coach should advice him to release the on time and stop wasting time with short short passes. He should watch Messi
