Chelsea's FA cup final three-At-The-Back could be a blueprint for alonso

The Telegraph recently pointed out that McFarlane is considering using a three-man defense in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, a tactical system commonly used by Alonso, who is currently one of the hot candidates for Chelsea's permanent manager.

Interim manager McFarlane switched to a three-man defense in last week's draw against Liverpool at Anfield, and all indications are that he is considering continuing this approach at Wembley.

There is still room for tactical adjustments, but if the three-man defense continues to be started, it will provide an excellent reference for Alonso. Alonso has always preferred a 3-4-2-1 formation throughout his coaching career, which would allow him to assess how well Chelsea's current squad adapts to this system.

Alonso frequently employed a three-man defense system during his time coaching Leverkusen and Real Madrid.

Against Liverpool, Chelsea's three-man defense consisted of Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, and Jorrell Hato, and these three are expected to continue in the FA Cup final. Captain Reece James will make his first starting appearance since his injury in March, which will strengthen the team; he can play both in midfield and as a right wing-back.

Alonso, Iraola, Marco Silva, and Glasner are all hot candidates for Chelsea's new manager. Like Alonso, Glasner also primarily used a three-man defense during his time coaching Crystal Palace.

Chelsea hopes that the new manager will have a top-flight coaching resume, whether it's experience coaching in the Premier League or at a major overseas club. It is understood that Alonso is also willing to consider returning to Stamford Bridge to start a new chapter in his coaching career.
