Following allegations that he made racist remarks during his time in charge of Nice last year, Christophe Galtier – now at Paris Saint-Germain – had indicated in his press conference last week that he would be launching legal action in response.

Speaking to L’Équipe this Friday, Galtier’s lawyer, Olivier Martin, has confirmed that a series of legal complaints have been lodged to the Paris public prosecutor.

These include libel complaints against Julien Fournier, the former Nice director who reportedly sent the internal email containing the accusations, as well as journalists Romain Molina and Daniel Riolo, who first revealed its contents last week. A libel complaint against persons unknown has also been filed, as well as one concerning the death threats he received after his phone number was leaked on social media.

The Paris public prosecutor will now have three months to decide whether or not to open an investigation, add L’Équipe. Meanwhile, as reported by Nice-Matin, a preliminary investigation has been opened over alleged “workplace discrimination according to religious or ethnic affiliation” which led to a police search at Nice’s headquarters on Friday.
