Michael Carrick concedes it "hurts" that Manchester United only took a point against Everton after twice giving up a lead in their 2-2 draw.
Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead early in the second half before Tyrique George cancelled out that strike in the 83rd minute.
Substitute Benjamin Sesko then thought he had snatched a win for United five minutes later, but slack defending in the dying seconds allowed Ainsley Maitland-Niles to send a stunner into the top-left corner to snatch a point.
United conceded their latest Premier League goal (95:11) since December 2024 v Wolves (98:04), and their latest result-altering goal in the competition since April 2024 against Chelsea (Cole Palmer's winner, 100:41).
It is also just the second time in the last 50 years that United have conceded at least two goals in each of their first three games of a league season, along with 2020-21.
"They're two fantastic strikes from in and around outside the box, so they don't go in too often," Carrick told Sky Sports.
"I thought we did a lot of good things in the game to get us in the position we were in twice.
"Some of our attacking players was really good, and we looked dangerous and done a lot of things that we were trying to do. And for the most part, I thought we dealt with them quite well.
"I thought we defended deep when we had to defend deep and defended well as a team, but maybe there's a little bit of managing the game a little bit better.
"It hurts, as we came here to win and we put ourselves in a good position."
Marcus Rashford was picked to start for the second straight match, and he looked a threat down the left side for United.
However, he was taken off in the 70th minute, with Carrick confirming the forward had complained of an issue.
"He felt a little bit of something, so we had to change him," Carrick added.
"We had good connections pretty much all over the pitch at different times of the game, and Marcus and Luke Shaw have played together for a long period of time and have a good understanding.
"And you can see that they look really dangerous down that side, and there's obviously more to come."

Carrick to be blamed for the very late substitution and the equaliser, trying to act smart.

Late equalising goals had been common known to Manchester United which proves lack of defence and strikers

Cunha as a no 9 is working for me,tielemans and Kobbie same type of players offensively good but defensively not,so no much protection for the defense,Amad and De ligt need to get back ASAP,lastly Dorgu, dalot, shaw and Maguire just don't have enough quality to be Man United players currently.

The blame of this lack luster draw lies squarely at the feet of Mike Carrick.

Mike Carrick made big judgement errors by substituting fallot, mainoo, shaw and Rashford at the tail of the match. This strategy caused Amorim his dismissal from man utd last season. So Mike Carrick be warned.
