Napoli coach Antonio Conte was pleased with their 2-1 win against Genoa on Sunday.

Rasmus Hojlund again proved the matchwinner, with Napoli teammate Kevin De Bruyne outstanding on the day.

Conte said,  "An incident in the first half shaped the game and changed the balance. These situations can happen, but sometimes they can seriously penalise you from a sporting standpoint. The reaction we showed in the second half was that of a team with the right spirit, eager to react to the negativity and turn the result around.

"No one can doubt this victory! I understand that some were hoping for a slip-up from us, but they will have to wait a little longer."

Jeff Ekhator had Genoa ahead at halftime before Andre-Frank Zambo-Anguissa and Hojlund struck.

Conte also said: "De Bruyne? As for Kevin, Spinazzola, and the injuries, it's all part of football and the season. It'll be a challenging year. Last year, we didn't play in European competitions, unlike established clubs like Inter, Juve, and Atalanta, who have gained experience. We're building our own path and we know it will be complex.

"We've brought in nine new players to support the twelve who won the Scudetto, confirming just how exceptional that victory was. We need to integrate them gradually, sometimes taking risks, other times relying on those who offer more certainty.

"Despite everything, the signs we're sending are those of a determined team with no intention of giving up."
