Coronavirus outbreak provides Jese with an opportunity at PSG

Jese Rodriguez could be named in the Paris Saint-Germain starting line-up for the first time in over a year, following a number of players testing positive for COVID-19.

Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel di Maria, Leandro Paredes, Marquinhos, Mauro Icardi and Keylor Navas have all tested positive for the virus.

As such, Thomas Tuchel will have to name a heavily changed starting line-up for his side's first match of the season against Lens on Thursday night.

According to L'Equipe, should Tuchel want to keep his 4-3-3 formation then the starting berth would be fought over between Arnaud Kalimuendo and Jese.

However, the French newspaper still think it is improbably that Jese will start, as he hasn't played a game for the club since August 30, 2019, when he appeared in a 2-0 win against Metz just before going out on loan to Sporting CP.

He could, though, come off the bench and earn his first PSG minutes in over a year.
