Could Messi be heading to Saudi Arabia after his Inter Miami contract ends?

According to L'Equipe newspaper, Saudi club Al Ahli are interested in signing Lionel Messi in December, once his contract with Inter Miami expires.

Having won the Asian Champions League, Al Ahli have been keen for several weeks to persuade the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner to join their ranks. Inter Miami, meanwhile, are hoping to extend Messi's adventure beyond his first two seasons in MLS.

Having already been approached in the summer of 2023 after his departure from PSG, Messi remains a priority target for the Saudi league, which has not given up on the idea of seeing him play on its turf as soon as he is free again in December.

No financial details of the current discussions have been divulged, but Saudi Arabia, host of the 2034 World Cup, seems ready to pull out all the stops to attract the star.
