Courtois pulls out of Belgium's squad due to an adductor injury

Thibaut Courtois has pulled out of Belguim's squad for Tuesday's friendly against Germany after suffering an injury.

The 30-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Friday's comfortable 3-0 win over Sweden in their opening Euro 2024 qualifier match.

But he has been forced to withdraw as a precaution and return to Real Madrid after picking up an adductor injury.

A statement released by the Belgium FA via Twitter reads: 'Thibaut returned for precaution reasons back to Real Madrid due to a minor strain in the adductor.'

The news will comes as a concern to Carlo Ancelotti's side, who have a busy schedule after the international break.

The injury may see Courtois miss the Copa del Rey semi-final second-leg against Barcelona, who hold 1-0 advantage from the first-leg.

Real Madrid also face Courtois' former club Chelsea in the semi-final of the Champions League on April 12.

The goalkeeper has already missed eight matches through injury across all competitions this season, having suffered sciatica and a hamstring knock.

Real Madrid will play Real Valladolid at the Bernabeu on April 2 after the international break.
