Cristiano Jr., known as Cristianinho, scored his first goal for Portugal’s Under-16 team in a 3–0 win over Wales. The eldest son of the Portuguese star had already made his debut against Turkey in the opening match of the Federation Cup Tournament in Antalya, Turkey. His goal sent the Portuguese bench into raptures.
At just 15 years old, Cristianinho is already playing in an age group above his own, and doing so with distinction, very much in the Cristiano style. His goal came just before half-time to break the deadlock. The Portuguese youngster latched onto a pass from Carlos Moita and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
Cristiano Jr. didn’t finish the match, making way for Rafael Cabral in the 62nd minute. Cabral went on to score twice to seal Portugal’s second win of the tournament.
Portugal’s next Under-16 fixture will be against England on Tuesday, where Cristiano Jr. is expected to start again. He has fitted seamlessly into the team and is already one of its standout players. There’s no doubt he’s inherited his father’s genes.
