Crystal Palace are the next Premier League club to be the subject of a fly-on-the-wall documentary series.

Channel 4 have begun the filming for a six-part series focusing on the work of the south London club's academy.

Cameras will be recording footage over the next year for the series, which has the current working title The Academy.

Included will be behind-the-scenes access to the climax of this season for their title-chasing under-18s and also their under-23s who have qualified for the end of season play-offs, with promotion to the Premier League 2 Division 2 play-offs.

Palace, who have recently pumped in £20m to redevelop their academy, have produced the likes of Gareth Southgate, Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka and the attempts of their next generation of stars to follow in their footsteps will be captured on camera.

The roles played by club staff and parents in helping the youngsters make the grade in the Premier League will also feature.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said: 'Our academy has a rich history in developing world-class footballers, and we are acutely aware that South London has one of, if not the, best footballing talent pools in the world.

'Having recently invested millions in a state-of-the-art facility upgrade, achieving elite Category 1 status for our Academy in the process, we are extremely excited to take viewers behind the scenes at an elite football institution, as we aim to identify, attract and develop the next generation of Crystal Palace footballers.'
