Being Indian i say the Indian football quality needs to improve a lot. Youth academies need to set up and lot more tactical knowledge must be provided to the players. And moreover the physique of the players must be improved. There is a long way to go. Moreover people in India must stop seeing a sport as way of making money.

DURAND CUP was founded in India in 1888. The Durand Cup is the THIRD OLDEST football competition behind the FA Cup and the Scottish Cup. So well, The history of Indian football is old one. It was the national sport at one time. Now Hockey is the National sport presently (8 Olympic golds) although Cricket is most popular sport. But football is equally played especially by adults in rural area. It is also stereotyped by older generation as the "Game of Men" to make fun of Cricket mainly played by younger people. Calcutta based "MOHAN Bagan Athletic Club" is the current existing team in India founded in 1889. I-League is one of the two premier football leagues in the country, the other being the Indian Super League (ISL) . ISL is more commercially motivated and promoted. 1951–1962: The Golden Era of Indian Football- India was best in Asia during this era under Syed Abdul Rahim. India was the winner 1951 and 1962 Asian games and reached in semi final of 1956 Olympic. Indian football has risen from dormant and 2000–2010 can be considered "The rebirth of Indian Football". And from 2011 it can be considered "A new beginning". Because since the 2011 All India Football Federation(AIFF) has been working very hard on Indian Football. Also I-League and ISL started in previous decade. Well, Indian football history is very interesting. Football fever is already on the rise. International competition like "FIFA U17 WORLD CUP" will speed it up. We are also planning and preparing to held FIFA U20 or et al games. Bollywood film celebrities and Cricket players are promoting and owning football clubs. So I hope a bright future of Indian football.

To be honest, the passion had started to get into the young generation regarding football well before U-17 WC.... It is highlighted by the fact that Indian team has been performing well lately.... As an Indian, I can say that slowly but surely there has been an improvement.... And it won't be long before we see some quality football from India..... And you may take my word for that, especially, after seeing the fact that this was the best U-17 WC in terms of coverage
