Barcelona bid farewell to legendary right-back Dani Alves after their final pre-season game against Pumas Unam on Sunday.

The 39-year-old left left the club in June following the expiry of his contract which brought his second spell with Barcelona to an end.

Alves faced the Laliga side at Nou Camp for the Joan Gamper Trophy with new club Pumas and he received an emotional farewell from players and supporters.

Prior to the match, Alves got a big cheer from fans as he came out to warmup. He returned the favour by signalling a heart sign while being on Marc-Andre ter Stegen's back.

The Brazilian could not contain his emotions as he hugged his old team-mates and president Joan Laporta before receiving a framed shirt with the number 431, representing the number of games he played for the club.

The emotional scenes continued after the game as he got thrown in the air by the whole Barcelona squad.

Alves took to social media to thank his old team-mates, saying: 'Gratitude and best wishes to you….. I love you so much!!'

During his first spell with Barcelona, Alves won 26 major trophies with the club, including the Champions League, Club World Cup and LaLiga, scoring 22 goals in the process.

Meanwhile, Xavi's side lifted the Joan Gamper Trophy with a 6-0 win over Pumas.

Robert Lewandowski, Pedri, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Ousmane Dembele and Frankie de Jong all scored in a routine win.

Barcelona will start the Laliga season next week with a home game against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
