On Tuesday, the decision of the Barcelona Court of Appeal to keep Dani Alves in custody without bail was made public. The player reportedly did not react well to the news as he had been hoping for a release.
Alves has been in jail for a month, accused of allegedly raping a girl in a nightclub in Barcelona on December 30. No bail has been set, partly as he has been considered a flight risk.
The program 'Cuatro al dia' reported that upon hearing the latest failure in his attempts to be released, the Brazilian former player decided to remain in his cell in silence all morning.
The player's defense lawyer presented alternatives such as bail, withdrawal of his passport, wearing a telematic bracelet or appearing in court, but the Barcelona Court of Appeals rejected them on the grounds that they did not avoid the risk of absconding.
On the other hand, according to La Razon, Alves' defense is working on its new strategy to prove the Brazilian soccer player's innocence.
Lawyer Cristobal Martell is already drawing up the plan for his next appeal, in which he will request new statements from those involved.
New strategy
The player's defence will now focus, according to the newspaper, on two aspects: that there was consent on the part of the victim and the "distorted narrative". That is why the forensic reports are of utmost importance.
A few days ago, the lawyer asserted that the injuries presented by the young woman did not correspond to a sexual assault. More recently, they have gone on to insist that the analysis of the vaginal discharge would confirm consent.
The soccer player's lawyers argue that "the vaginal discharge" of the victim is "incompatible with forced sexual intercourse".
Meanwhile, they also speak of a "lack of injuries in the vaginal cavity", as well as other signs of physical reduction. Arguments that do not coincide with the witnesses' account.

I can't understand why these things always happen and celebrities won't learn, men are always victims, our world is gradually turning into a feminist world shame even courts are feminists everyone just flavours the women once they play the victim. I feel so pained Mendy suffered, Greenwood still suffering and now Alves is in a dilemma now, I'm not supporting the men who rape women but I think proper investigations should be carried out before locking people up, what was she looking for in a club is she a child, and who's she to resist a celebrity like Alves, they don't consider all this.. women will naturally want to date or even want to have sex with them, how then are courts always quick to judge and lock people up.
