Former Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge made a surprise appearance in Beta Squad's charity game but delivered a rollercoaster performance.
Sturridge, 34, is currently a free agent and, keen to make the most of his downtime, was brought on for the final 15 minutes in Beta Squad's 6-6 draw with AMP.
With just five minutes left on the clock and the hosts leading by a single goal, Sturridge was played through on goal and had just goalkeeper UTDTrey to beat.
But after the stopper did his best to narrow the angle, Sturridge could only chip the ball harmlessly up into the air and wide of the goal before reacting with disbelief.
Indeed, the frontman placed his hands on his head seconds after the glaring miss.
He was also denied his elusive goal two minutes later after being released into the box, Danny Aarons racing back to clear the ball off the line at the death.
There was still time for more drama, however, with Sturridge eventually scoring.
Despite the chaos around him, Kai Cenat and AJ Shabeel having fought in the corner, Sturridge kept his cool to stroke into the bottom corner and spark wild scenes.
The gripping game looked set to go the distance - with a penalty shootout planned to decide the winner between the two influential YouTube groups.
But a pitch invasion before the final whistle had sounded saw the players removed from the pitch - and the match was called off to the dismay of thousands.
A mystery Premier League footballer had stolen the show and scored at both ends.
