David de Gea is locked in a contract stand-off with Manchester United over extending his current deal at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils' No 1 is demanding £350,000-a-week wages to commit his peak years to the club, according to the Mirror.
The 28-year-old has been the subject of heavy interest from Real Madrid, having failed to agree to new terms in recent years.
De Gea currently earns £200,000-a-week but feels he should be up alongside the likes of Alexis Sanchez in becoming one of the club's top earners.
United are reportedly reluctant to give into De Gea's demands but are confident that they can meet a compromise with the Spain international.
United triggered a one-year extension in the goalkeeper's contract in November last year to prevent clubs speaking with him over a move away from the north west of Manchester.
While De Gea has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, a move to the Bernabeu now looks to be off the cards following the acquisition of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea last summer.
The £35million purchase of the Belgium international looks to have put an end to their pursuit of De Gea should he become available.
However, De Gea has made it clear in the past that he'd be willing to commit his best years to United if the right deal could be made.
De Gea completed his move from Atletico Madrid to United in the summer of 2011 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best keepers in the world.

To solve the problems, just sale Sanchez! He's just finishing our money 💵 for nothing. Taking wages for where he did not work. Worked for Arsenal and taking free wages at United. So sad 😔

Give him 500k!! In fact, if Sanchez gets 500k a week, De Gea deserves more

If Man U agreed 350,000 Lbs a week, it only come to 7.8 million pounds more. Another 5 years contract cost 39 million pounds (apart from any other miscellaneous), it's very worthy. Of course we get transfer fees from selling him, can we get a better or equally good keeper, if so it won't cost cheap. So it doesn't made sense not agreeing his term. Sanchez is really a big loss of money. In the first place , no player in today world worth thus salary, not even Messi or Ronaldo. Man City really save lot of money by not spending this kind of money on this average good player.
