De Gea drops massive hint that he is ready to commit long-term future to Man Utd

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has dropped a massive hint that he is ready to commit his long-term future to the club.

United recently triggered a one-year option on De Gea's current deal, which now runs until summer 2020, but have been unable to agree an extension beyond that.

It had been reported in the last few days that the Spaniard was only ready to commit himself to the Old Trafford club if he was offered a deal to match top-earning Alexis Sanchez.

However, it seems that the upturn in the club's fortunes under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has convinced De Gea that the club can match his ambition and he is ready to sign a deal worth around £375,000-per-week.

Talks are believed to be ongoing but a post on social media from Emilio Alvarez suggests a breakthrough may well have been reached.

Alvarez, the club's goalkeeper coach, uploaded a picture to Instagram on Thursday alongside De Gea and another friend with the caption: "Friends, coffee time, excited future ahead."

The post was immediately spotted by eagled-eyed United fans who left comments underneath the picture begging the Spaniard to stay in Manchester.

De Gea later added to the intrigue when he commented on the photo with two top arrow emojis.

United have tied a number of first-team players to long-term contracts, with Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw the most recent, but De Gea remains the one they want to get done.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs keeping tabs on the Spanish international's situation in Manchester and both could offer the shot-stopper a pay rise.

De Gea joined United in 2011 but came close to leaving for Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 before the deal to take him to the Bernabeu broke down.

During a difficult period for the club, he has remained United's most reliable player and has won the player of the year award at Old Trafford on four separate occasions.
