David De Gea is set to sign a new long-term contract worth £375,000 a week when Manchester United return from their pre-season tour.
The deal, which is worth significantly more after bonuses, will make De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper in the world.
The 28-year-old is in the final year of his current £200,000-a-week contract and could have left Old Trafford as a free agent next summer amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
But De Gea, who came within minutes of joining Real Madrid in 2015, has indicated that he is ready to commit his long-term future to United.
He has been at the club for eight years since signing from Spanish side Atletico Madrid for £18.9m.
Manchester United’s tour continues with a friendly against Leeds United at the Optus Stadium on Wednesday.

He deserves it!! The best goalkeeper in the world will definitely deserve the highest pay, I see some fake United fans telling him to get out saying its too much money and he doesn't deserve it....fake fans, if it weren't for De Gea, we would not be in top 6 at all, appreciate what he's done for us..... Looks like De Gea is about to commit his future and sign a new long-term contract with United. If this turns out to be true, I’ll be forever grateful. He should be hailed as a hero and a club legend. And for the love of god, give him the captaincy!
