As pressure mounts on Manchester United number one David de Gea, we use Opta stats to compare him with Dean Henderson.
Manchester United's David de Gea is no stranger to scrutiny at Old Trafford. There were serious concerns over De Gea when he was lured to the Premier League by former boss Alex Ferguson as a lean 20-year-old in 2011.
De Gea, though, answered questions about his physique – the Spaniard repaying Ferguson's faith and going on to win a Premier League title, as well as FA Cup, Europa League, EFL Cup and Community Shield silverware.
Re-emerging De Gea concerns reach fever pitch after FA Cup gaffes
He cemented himself as one of the world's best keepers. However, those concerns have emerged again and they are growing louder following his horror show in Sunday's 3-1 FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea.
It was a Wembley nightmare for De Gea, who was unable to keep out Olivier Giroud's effort in the final minute of first-half stoppage time.
Trailing 1-0 upon the start of the second half, De Gea had nowhere to hide when a speculative long-range strike from Mason Mount went past the Spaniard with embarrassing ease.
De Gea's errors led to United's unbeaten streak ending at 19 matches, and with it, a date against Arsenal in the FA Cup showpiece.
As the errors occur more frequently, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces a goalkeeping conundrum. Unlike previous seasons, De Gea has serious competition in the form of Dean Henderson – who is excelling on loan at Sheffield United in England's top flight.
Henderson reluctant to return to Manchester United as goalkeeping understudy
England youth international Henderson is widely viewed as the future of United, but the 23-year-old is reportedly unwilling to return to Manchester next season unless he is the number one.
So, Solskjaer has a decision to make. Stick with De Gea – who signed a new and lucrative deal until at least June 2023 in September – or turn to Henderson?

We all know De Gea is world class goalkeeper, but in football anything can happen. Let's not forget how Courtois was trolled recently on this app but today Courtois is receiving the praises and hype from the same people who trolled him here.. GG de Gea

In terms of future its clear and Henderson is going to be the no.1 but now I still back Dave, he is just 29 and saved us single-handedly many times. Rejected Real Madrid with a guaranteed trophies for us when we were struggling

Honestly I have taken my time to read almost every article about David De Gea after last Sunday's match and I have realized the English press and analysts are epitomes of racism. So far as Dean Henderson is an English Keeper they will rubbish DDG who is a Spaniard and even Sergio Romero, an Argentine. They always feel their products (English guys) are the best. Look at Harry Maguire, overrated and overpriced. They dont really talk about him but De Gea who placed the team on his shoulders alone for years is now a useless n worthless asset. Even Sancho, look at the hype around him, yet Kai may surely be a better play maker than him. These English football papers, analysts and some Man U legends dey bore me pass.

Henderson is definitely the future. It's hard for De gea now , he has been phenomenal we all know this and we shouldn't bully him like as outcast. Hs his still great n needs support from his team mates ,fans and Man U. He can still bounce back and let's not forgot Man U still got some weaknesses at the level of defence. I dont want to blame anyone for De Gea's weaknesses because I know everyone got difficult moments in his profession and some are so unfortunate depending the time they face these difficulties. You become so unfortunate when difficulties come at a time the team really needed a win and better for he who faces difficulties when the team's position isn't threatened.

Yes Yes Yes I know that it was very painful to lose to Chelsea in the semi-finals of the FA Cup But there are some United fans that they are not called fans at all They are fans of two days They are just waiting for Manchester United to always win all the games But if some of you know little about football, you would never think that it should always be a victory for United. This is football and anything can happen in football Some United fans are like that When De gea saves United from a game Man United fans say He is the best goalkeeper in the world and he kept his goal very well, and the example of Pogba that he scores or assists in three consecutive games, then some United fans say Pogba is the best midfielder in the world and he played very well And also They say the same thing for Martial and Rashford But when De gea receives wrong goals in a game Again, some United fans say that he is the worst goalkeeper or he should be fired from the team, and Pogba that he does not give the right passes in a game, and again some United fans say that Pogba should assist and he did not play well. And they say same kind of for Martial and Rashford and the other players on the team And Solskjaer when he did not lose the last 19 games Everyone was saying that solskjaer is the best coach and that he is the son of Sir Alex Ferguson, but last night he lost against Chelsea They say that Solskjaer should be fired Now you say that it is justice and fairness that some fans like that against Manchester United Please, please, please, United fans, do not always be one-sided Look from both sides They are like us and also they are humans And always they can mistake too Being a football player does not mean that you should not make mistakes or lose and I really love Manchester United We should always love Manchester United If you just want always United to win and when they lost the gaeme,,then you some fans blame the players and Coach In this case, you are not a fan at all You are a fan of two days Go and support another team I always love Man United with their losses, draws and victories And in any Situation, I am with my lovely and great, big team in the world Hoping for United's next victories in all their future games And we will be back stronger next season #WE_ARE_UNITED_FOREVER❤❤❤👏👏👏
