Even though Matthijs de Ligt has finished his participation in the UEFA Nations League, he hasn’t reached a decision about his future yet.
The Dutch defender has doubts about whether he should go to Barca where he would have to compete with Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti.
People around him have told him that he should go to a team where he knows he can start.
“If you go to United, in three years Barca will pay whatever it costs for you,” they have told him.
Journalist Oriol Domenech went further on Catalunya Radio, saying that the player’s agent Mino Raiola has told Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu that De Ligt can move to Barca later on and for now he wants to play and have minutes.
Barca have an agreement with Ajax for around 75m euros but are waiting on the player’s decision. He says he will go on holiday and take a decision later on.
“I still don’t know what shirt I will wear after such a long season as this, now I just want to relax,” said De Ligt after losing to Portugal in the Nations League final.

He should go for that team where he could play for 10+ years consistently and before the team legend.He should go for Barca or Juve.He can learn from Pique at Barca or Chiellini at Juve.Then he can play consistently after their retirement which is coming soon.Barca or Juve is the best choice for De ligt.

What is this about De Ligt wanting playing time. When he do retire from football; the question will be how many trophies have he won as a player and not how many minutes have he played.

correct call. de ligt needs playing time. if he goes to Barca, he will have to compete with Lenglet, Umtiti, and new faces from the la masia, EsPecially The TALENTED CHUMI. if he comes to Barca,lenglet(who has already proven himself)and him,Both will not get enough playing time. he should follow the footsteps of Legend gerard Pique to go to man United. there he will not have competition in the BUT will have Competition WITH OTHER TEAMS.
